I love the atmosphere of this place, great theming. Everything I have ever gotten from here has been delicious. The bagels are typically more chewy than I would prefer, but I still order one every time I go in because they have such exciting cream cheese flavors I want to try, such as black pepper parmesan or kimchi. September 2024 Update: Still 5 stars every time! The owner is so personable and kind to every customer, giving them a real moment from his day when he is behind the counter dealing danishes. I’ve tried to come multiple times just to not be able to as they’re sold out and closer (hours) early. Would love to review them on the merits of their food but I’d need to be able to get some first. Not even sure why have hours of operation at that point. Even checked Instagram before leaving and they posted they were closed there the last time. And if you keep selling out that early, I’m not business magnate but I might think you just…make more next time. Get here at 6 am if you want a donut, I guess. Edit: The snarky business reply is cute and super professional but you might as well get in line early since they won’t be open long.
Seriously, the best pastries I have ever eaten. I got 4 different ones to try- chocolate croissant, lemon danish, cinnamon roll, and another 'cinnamon pastry ' that I can 't remember the name of. I got the 'cinnamon pastry (palmier? because I typically don 't like them, and I wanted to see if the comments I had read would hold up-everything tasted so much better than I could have imagined. Now that I know this place exists, I need to start working out more regularly so I can eat more of their delicious pastries!
I went to Blackhole Bakery on a whim after searching for local pastry shops. I was so pleasantly surprised by the ambiance inside, the amazingly friendly employee who assisted me, and the amazing-looking pastries they offer. The almond croissant was delicious, and I'd been looking for mochi donuts in the Kansas City area for a long time—they did not disappoint! I absolutely plan to come back and try more of the beautiful and tasty treats they have to offer.
Lots of stuff still available at 12:45! Very please with my choices. Biscuits and gravy croissant, ginger peach and carrot cake mochi donuts, and a bonus cinnamon roll. Friendly staff and cute shop make for an awesome little spot on Troost
Got the everything bagel but not pictured. It was hard as rock and the mango lassi mochi tasted like uncooked donut texture. Not sure what the hype is about.
I’m glad they close on Mondays because I have no self-control Best cinnamon rolls in Kansas City!
This place is highly recommended: 10/10 The pastries are phenomenal.
