As for the food, the dishes we tried were either amazing or disappointing. The highlights were the stuffed squash blossoms, duck, and Ravioli. The Ravioli, especially, was a must-try even without the blue cheese sauce. On the other hand, the Yellowfin tuna was a miss as it came in a chunk on tomatoes, which wasn't a pleasant bite. The apricot salad also fell short with its lack of flavour and odd mix of seaweed and kale. In terms of drinks, the vodka chico had a refreshing spa-like taste, the Yuzu sour was delicious, and the nitro espresso martini was a great choice for a sweet drink that's not dessert. Overall, our experience at Bludorn was pretty good, with some hits and misses in terms...
Food was disappointing…. Extremely salty. Good vibe and service though, great cocktail hence giving 3 stars. But once I tasted the food it was salty, very very very salty all the way through every dish — my group all found it salty so it was not just me. It was even saltier than the saltiest bar food I have had. We ordered crab rice, beef tartare and others and once you took a few bites of those two, for everything else one tasted only one flavor — salty! It is surprising no other comments mentioned the salt level. Cocktails were good though. We went on a Friday evening and it was very busy and skipped dessert though table next to us said it was good.
Pricey, but amazingly balanced flavor combinations. Best fried oyster I've ever eaten. Baked ones were too rich and overpowered the oyster. The shrimp cocktail had four shrimp that were poached straight and given just the right amount of sauces, horseradish, and garnish. Small pasta dish was amazing but very small...like four pieces of pasta in total. NY strip was cooked perfectly and had unique homey seasoning that reminded me of my grandfather's study. The bread and butter were worth going alone. Sazerac cocktail was textbook.Parking: This is valet only unless you want to look around for street parking in the neighborhood across Taft.
I've never dined at Bludorn. The friend I met recommended it as a great place for food and atmosphere. I started with a vodka martini which hit the spot. My friend ordered pink bubbly, which she said was great. We ordered oysters on the half shell for starters, along with squash blossoms. Both were absolutely delicious along with a nice serving of baked bread. For our entrees, we both decided on eggs Benedict prepared with crab cakes. It was delightful! Excellent. Aaron, kevin and leo were amazing servers. I came back and it was even better, summer and yohnna were awesome too. I came back and tried the rissoto with crab it was good the lamb tartar was ok but the beignets where basic. The service at the bar is awesome. The champurrado dreams is one of my favorites drinks in houston and the whisky list is long. I hope to try the prime rib soon. The cookies at the entrance are really good.
I absolutely loved the squash soup at this restaurant. The flavor was amazing. Normally I wouldn't be a fan of cold soups, but I'm so glad we decided to try it because it ended up being the highlight of the meal. The burger was also delicious, but the potato wedges on the side stole the show! The creamed spinach and salmon were also excellent. I can't wait to come back and try their cocktails next time!
OMG! The experience at Bludorn is definitely 5 star. The atmosphere, the service, the food, the drinks—EVERYTHING!We have been fortunate to meet one of the owners, Cherif at both Navy Blue and Bludorn and you can truly tell that he’s passionate about the quality output their brand delivers. Whether is date night, girls night or a solo night out, you can’t go wrong with Bludorn.
The food at this restaurant was amazing, particularly the carb-heavy options during brunch. The cheddar biscuits were crunchy and flaky on the outside, yet incredibly soft on the inside, making them delicious.
