Well-decorated, modern interior. The seating is very comfortable and stylish. One of my all-time favourite spots for Japanese cuisine! They have a variety of dishes here that takes it well beyond your typical sushi joint. The staff is always incredibly friendly and always make sure that you are greeted right away even if they are busy. I had always heard that the food was great and I'm so glad I finally had a chance to see for myself because I have been back several times since and have consistently enjoyed the food and service. We made a few trips to Bluetail while on our trip because it was so amazing! The sushi was delicious! The rolls are made well and there is a very nice selection to choose from. To start we had edamame beans which were cooked to perfection. Then we had tuna kaarage and some miso soup. They were both splendid however, I wish they had larger chunks of tofu in the miso soup. The rolls we ordered were great and the wine list they have is short but covers dry to sweet. The Pinot Gris went well with our rolls. The waitress was very kind and not pushy at all. I love sushi... I'll start with that, that being said, there is sushi that tastes like it was made decades ago... and then there is Bluetail! They have some of the most unique rolls, different than what you find at all the other places. Some of my favourites are the mango roll, the tofu roll and the deep friend California roll. Mmmmm.... The restaurant itself is lovely, and trendy. The servers are quick and sweet. You never wait long for your food or the bill. The menu is reasonably priced as well.I have not tried both locations and have only been to THIS location but it's CONSISTENTLY amazing and I would eat there every day if I could! Go try Bluetail! You won't be disappointed!!
Stopped in and I had the godfather roll and super supper roll, the wife had dynamite roll and gyoza. All of it was delicious. Tough to find this place in the dark as the sign is pretty small and it is set back from the road. Glad we found it. Large space and we had a very nice server with the food coming out in about 7 minutes. Really enjoyed our meal and look forward to visiting again. Posted a photo above.
Same great sushi as at their bistro location, but there's a lot more places to sit! The decor/atmosphere is also very nice. We frequent this place a lot, both for take-out and eat-in. The service is always very good, and the sushi chefs craft their sushi rolls well. The location can be a little unexpected for a restaurant, but it is worth poking around to find. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Today I went to Bluetail sushi on spall. I hadn't been there (was the old Gengi) since it was taken over by bluetail.However the atmosphere was great there wasn't a table available (which pleases me when I go to restaurants, bc I know it's good if it's full at 7pm on a Thursday night) so I sat at the sushi bar had three rolls that were terrific!Highly recommend!
We went to the Bluetail Bistro a couple of weeks ago and it was great. The Bluetail Kitchen, not so much. It was OK but only just that. No "wow" factor at all. As a matter of fact, after dinner we were still hungry so went. To Fat Burgers for some poutine.Not recommended.
Loved this restaurant. The setting was very nice and clean, everything well kept. Staff are very friendly. Our group had a variety of dishes from noodles to Sushi. All were fabulous. Prices are mid range--you won't be disappointed. Will go back for sure!
Wonderful experience. Our selection was great from appy's on through. Every item we ordered were delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and very interactive. Lots of fun and smiles. We will be back, many times.
