I've always loved visiting Bob Jo's for their Frozen Custard; it's been a cherished part of my life. My parents took me there when I was a child, and now I continue the tradition with my own kids. It's a regular stop whenever my brother visits from California, and we've been there almost every day since last week. Bob Jo's is the original Frozen Custard spot in this area, and all other places are just following in their footsteps. Frozen custard—what's not to love? They offer an incredible variety of flavors, though I tend to stick with the classic twist. My daughters enjoy the fruity options. The prices are reasonable, not overly expensive. While the lines can get long, they move fairly quickly. It may feel a bit like a cash grab, but I suppose that helps keep the lines moving.
It was definitely worth the 30-minute drive for my first experience at Bob Jo's Custard. The roasted coconut flavor was absolutely delightful! Having been born over 65 years ago in Melvindale and having visited Downriver only a few times, I had no idea this hidden gem was even in existence! I will definitely be coming back.
I'm in my 60's and have enjoyed Bob Jo's for EVERY YEAR of my 60's. The best frozen custard ever. It's a family tradition my children and now my grandchildren love.

The custard is excellent, and the staff is very friendly. Although the lines can be long due to their popularity, they move quickly.
Best Ice cream ever! But hurry they close soon for the season! Bob Jos closing Sunday September 17, 2023! They open again in April!
