we were randomly at this place where we traveled from marbella to istan. the view of the valleys and lakes were absolutely breathtaking. as they would expect this time of the year, it was not the warmest, but a little drizzly. after we. to this small hilly town, we were a little peckish and decided to eat in this bar / restaurant called bar bodega sudamerica. this is a very small bar / restaurant and offered home cooked food, today was wild rabbit and rice; to say this was wonderful an understatement it was fabulous, tasty with a little heat from some seasoning, and the amount for two people was amazing. I can't recommend it enough.
Stopped of in Istan on the way to some mountain walking and sat in the square to enjoy our breakfast. Must say lovely breakfast and coffee from this Bodega and its spotlessly clean but Piccadilly circus would have been less busy. The town square is...also a traffic thoroughfare with some pretty narrow and tight exits. Having vans reversing right up to your chair so as to make a tight right hand turn is not for the faint hearted. Great for people and car/van watching. Some great local specialities on the menu so highly recommended. Just sit against the wall.
This cafe is right in the hub of the town in the square. Although it took over 20 minutes for us to be actually served the food and coffees were good. Best of all was the location. Great for people watching and getting a sense...of the town culture. A local fish van arrived selling directly to women from the town who stood in their groups catching up with one another children playing in the streets. Older people chatting and watching everything and everyone else. Very friendly town.
Dining in the center of this pueblo, is interesting, one can watch the 'locals' navigate their transportation up and down the impossibly narrow alleys. the interesting dishes, perhaps need to be preordered, the roast goat is divine, the fish and rice plates exceptionally good, especially...the caldosos (wet rice). The wines reasonable, and the service by the owner great as to be expected. So, go ahead order the suckling pig or roast goat, totally worth it. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
This very traditional family run restaurant enjoys a prime spot in the main square of the picturesque white mountain village of Istan. It offers seating inside and out and is a focal point for locals and tourists alike. Good choice of tapas and main courses...all freshly prepared and of good quality . Not at all fancy but well worth a visit.
the rice with huh is so delicious. we visited this restaurant today with jose on our emountain bike tour today. the personal was friendly and served us the freshest arroz caldoso con pollo completely recommend. the beer was also quite good.
This is more for the locals but we eat/drank in here a couple of times. It is a bit basic but good. You can get meals at times but sometimes just tapas. It has inside and outside seating in the square

the bar bodega is located on the square of the city and offers sought-after meals, a very good value and very tasty. the owner is a real man, nothing was too much annoyed
