I was amazed to read the two reviews here giving negative feedback on this bakery, which is my favourite in Loches. To say that the patron is disagreeable is ridiculous. The service here is always super friendly and efficient. And the baker, if he does come into the shop, is a very amiable man. The religieuse was perhaps not the best one ever tasted by the reviewer, but to say that the pastry was from a factory is most unfair. I know that the patisserie here is made fresh by hand by a patissier not the boualngier and I have always found all of the pastries delicious. I have no vested interest in this bakery. The patisseries at this boulangerie are wonderful, but even better is the bread. There is such a wide choice loaves made with different flours, seeds and grains, including spelt for the gluten intolerant, in varying shapes and sizes. I love the pavé lochois which is what in Britain would be called a tin shaped white loaf ideal for the British palette and for sandwiches and for a change from the lovely baguettes (try the tradition), I bought bread and pastries for years from another boulangerie in Loches and I'm usually very loyal, but I've changed my allegiance to Laurent's now because it is just the best.
Line up here is worth the wait, great pastrys and the bread is perfect. There are a few in Loches and honestly they were all so good, could be our under developed pallette of French pastry.
A fine choice of bread by a real artisanal baker. A bit dangerous to enter.....we bought both bread and a flan, both worth the while
