Brighton the Corner

I find myself gravitating towards Petersham in the recent weekends to scour new cafes. And this weekend, we land ourselves in Brighton The Corner which has been on my hit list for a while but just been distracted with others that have been popping up in this area. Now I am kicking myself for not visiting sooner! Perhaps I was influenced by what has been said about their slow service on Foursquare. It seems teething issues are settled and this place is running in a much faster pace. The tip to not queuing in popular cafes like this is to hit it early. This cute cafe basks in sunlight for most of the day is deceivingly spacious inside. Sitting in this cafe, you really feel like a relaxed local especially with the friendly service. There is a good menu for breakfast lunch as well as a cabinet displaying some sweet treats, flakey looking croissants, pastries house baked muffins still in the tin. The bacon egg roll is delicious with a golden lava from the egg yolk oozing out at first bite a delicious tomato relish. The corn fritters were fresh, light delicious. The mixed berry muffin was quite healthy tasting not too sweet although a little dense. Love the well made Campos coffee friendly service.

Sunday morning, blazing sunshine, fantastic coffee, and crisp sweetcorn fritters with bacon and avocado on my plate. Already planning my next visit but might just have to make it a regular entry in my diary. Changes seem to be afoot with new owner Roderick bringing his 20 years of cafe experience from Crows Nest, and with him he brings much improved food selections and an eye for sharp, friendly service. This is a great spot to kill an hour and I expect mornings will be getting busier as word continues to spread about the recent updates. The large communal table is a great option for mums with bubs to catch up, plenty of highchairs available too.

Whatever you do, make sure you order the house made crumpets. The crumpets might be small in diameter but they more than make up for it in taste. Their toasted surface gives way to a dense but pillowy core, still riddled with familiar plunging tunnels that soak up lashing of honey butter. You can't visit this place without having their housemade crumpets! Crisp on the outside especially their edges, soft and doughy on the inside, they're a delight to soak up my favorite sauce combination, honey butter! Served with poached pear and blueberry compote, you can also add extra bacon for your liking..

Went here randomly for a late brekky, service was friendly and quick, food was spectacular and excellent coffee. They even catered for our off the menu requests! Would definitely return! Belle.

Stopped by here for a coffee. I had a Mocha and they use Campos Coffee. Tasted pretty good and nice service here too. Choice of indoor and outdoor seating.
