this place is all I expected. the service was fast and good. portions were a good part. we had the bark Sunday roast that was perfect with yorkshire pudding, who was crispy on the outside, but really fluffy on the inside. everything was on a bed of veg and kartoffel with bratkartoffeln on the side. we also had the crispy big ears, which had the resistance of thinly cut pork scratches. the mushroom on sourdough toast was really good. the mushroom was full of taste, but still had a nice bite while not muddy or crispy. the Scotch eggs were nice, but on the salty side for me, and finally the tweeled rings were perfectly roasted. This was probably one of the best lunches I've had in a long time! We got some pig's ears and cheese bites from the bar snacks menu. For anyone a bit nervous about the pig's ears, they just tasted like really good crackling. The cheese bites were super gooey and yummy. The burger was probably up there with one of the best burgers in Newcastle but it was the duck leg that stole the show as it was super tender but the skin incredibly crispy. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the decor cosy but bright. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!
when it came to choose where to eat in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, I decided over the wide chare. mostly for the name, and also because the menu looked perfect. they offer a traditional pub below with many ales on tap. there are generous sitting in the bar and snuck so they can enjoy a snack while they have a drink or two. if they are looking for a quieter place to eat, then they go upstairs to the dining room. mark, david and I sat in the bar to have a drink before our meal. dave had a gänsemann ale, I had a dog-like cider and had a heidi whiter.
We had a meal here in the evening for a small celebration. The staff were attentive and ensured we had exactly what we needed. The meal was very good and the balance of seasoning was superb in both our dishes. One, fish, thorn back ray and mine round rump steak burger with cheddar and dill. I decided to eat in the bar below and ordered a few of the “Geordie Tapas” – crispy pigs’ ears £2,80) and Deep-fried monkfish cheeks £3.50) the ears were delicious crispy and well seasoned; the perfect pub finger eating. I would like to go back and try the entire bar snack menu that looked right on my alley.
Fantastic. Couldn't recommend enough! The atmosphere and the staff were very inviting. The drinks and food selection was excellent. The food itself was on another level. Cannot wait to return and would recommend to anyone. Thanks for a great evening. The photos shared don't do it justice.
this place was the high point of my time spent in newcastle. I loved it so much that I went back a second time. large beer selection, with bottles from all over the world. the staff was friendly and very dedicated. an absolute must for every beer lover!

Really good food top quality. More than pub food Good beers, friendly staff but you need to book. Will definitely be back sometime soon.
