We really enjoy going to Brown iron brewhouse in Royal Oak. The beer selection is outstanding and well curated. You can always find something. The menu is divided by styles which is very handy especially because it takes a lot to look through it when you have that many choices, it is a quality problem to have by the way the food is pretty good. It is barbecue focused and they do a pretty good job of it. The burgers are particularly good here in my opinion the brisket and pork sandwiches and meals are also really really good services. Food was really good. However, service was awful. It was 445 pm when we went and maybe 10 tables were seated. Waitstaff was too busy talking to each other or on their phones to check on us. I had to get up twice to ask for things that I had asked for when I ordered. Maybe next time write it down if you don't want to return to the table. We will return and try again because the food was good and we love the one in Washington Twp. But 2 strikes and we won't be back.
The wheat beer with orange was very good and intriguing. I would rate it 5/5. The Michigan cherry salad was average, so I'll give it a 4/5. The pig candy (bacon) was outstanding, earning a solid 5/5. However, the cauliflower was over-breaded, and I would rate it just 2/5. Unfortunately, the salmon on top of the salad was overcooked and dry. The chef should remember that the most important rule for cooking salmon is not to overcook it. I would rate it 1/5.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the building was clean and spacious. The food was excellent! Some people mentioned that the water had a strange taste, but I thought it tasted perfectly clean. The burnt ends were fantastic! There were so many beer options that it felt a bit overwhelming, but the prices were reasonable, making it easy to try a few with a small flight. I would definitely return!

Great atmosphere...open air seating, large bar and large indoor seating. Good for groups, fellas to watch a game and fam to have a bite. I had their Memphis Cobb salad. The pulled pork it was topped with was very tasty and they have garlic parm fries...amazing!
Bartenders here are always nice (and busy). They don't give out taste samples of anything they don't make, but the 6oz pours tend to be less than $3 so it's not too bad if you want to try a few. They have a wall of taps and the food is always great.
Decor was nice this is why I gave a 2-star, but our service was mediocre at best. The hostess was on her phone the entire time. Our server was high on drugs maybe. I would not recommend this place at all!
Food is always outstanding. Had a few problems this time around but Thank you to Erica for making sure our issues got resolved. Very helpful and understanding. As always, 10/10 food and service.

The October Fest is happening right now, and the menu is fantastic! They have a great selection of beers, and the service is excellent. Highly recommend!
Gluten free friends can eat with confidence!!?? Bartender Sydney totally accommodated the breakfast hash to meet my dietary restrictions!!??
