I had the pleasure of meeting up with family on a weekday for a casual dinner at Browns on Harsen’s Island, Michigan, a charming establishment that has been around since 1946. We took a quick ferry ride to the island and headed straight to Browns. The band was fantastic, playing classic hits from the '70s and '80s, and I particularly enjoyed the nostalgic tunes from America. The laid-back atmosphere by the water was the perfect backdrop for our gathering. Our group indulged in taco salad, quesadillas, and other delightful dishes. We can't wait to return!
Despite the high water levels that submerged the docks, the use of porta-potties, and the muddy lot, the restaurant remained busy and thriving. The food was quite good, with the mac and cheese and fries being a standout. I really enjoyed the view and the waterfront setting. During my trip to the island, I visited twice and received excellent service on both occasions. The music was a bit loud, but considering the crowd, it made sense.
I thought this to be a great place to go as a boater. Food right on the water. Drinks almost at the boat. Lots of variety. Had a weird mac and cheese and some fries. Beer at reasonable price. I did not even wear shows? A bit slow but understandably as it was very busy, and the docks out front busy. In the end, all very good with even better people and boat watching.
The chicken tenders at Captains were incredibly flavorful, and I will definitely be ordering them again. The atmosphere was fantastic, and even though the restaurant was packed with no empty tables, the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and nice. I even shared a table with a couple who lives down the street from me. Overall, it was a great experience!
I always enjoy dining here; it’s become a tradition for me. The food is good, and the drinks are nice, though the outdoor seating could use a bit of a refresh. Overall, it’s the same place I’ve been visiting with my father for many generations.
There was no social distancing in place, and neither customers nor employees were wearing masks. The place was overcrowded and clearly disregarded the mandated capacity limits. We had intended to get takeout, but ultimately decided to leave.
The best Long Island Iced Tea by the lake. The food is great as well!
