Breakfast daily is just wonderful. Ordering the day before ensures you have the freshest food. Eggs Benedict, big breakfast, pancakes and Bircher muesli were all tried and thoroughly enjoyed. We were staying at Villa Howden as guests for a few nights, therefore ate our three included breakfasts here, and we chose to dine here for two dinners as well. The menu is limited (less is more? , however each meal we had was of exceptional...quality using local Tasmanian produce. After deciding to try out this restaurant in Howden, we were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Upon our arrival on a Saturday night, we noticed that there were only a few diners in the bright and tastefully decorated dining area. The spacious tables were not crowded together, which added to the overall ambiance. The high quality of the food reflected the skill of the chef - the salt and pepper squid, which my wife and I shared as an appetizer, was tender and delicious. This is part of Villa Howden. It is set in a lovely room with traditional French architecture and high ceilings . It is not large accommodating ten tables . There is a beautiful view of the gardens . We had breakfast twice there and the...food was reasonable . I noticed though there was only one staff member running around which is okay for s few tables , but would have been difficult if all tables were occupied.
The granola and oatmeal porridge were overly sweet and drowned in syrup. The breakfast sausage tasted artificial and the speck was dry and lacking in flavor. This meal was not a good representation of a quality breakfast; it was processed and overpriced.

We were hoping to find a simple dinner while staying at Villa Howden and were delighted to find Pumpkin Sweet Potato soup Creme Caramel! The service was wonderful.
