A disappointment really. The front of house staff were friendly enough and the venue is in a lovely little village. However, you really let yourselves down with your food offering. I ordered an ultimate burger, and have to say that it was anything but ultimate. The 3 burgers it came with were burnt and hard, and were sandwiched between cheap processed cheese. There was nothing ultimate about it, it was a huge disappointment. There were a handful 10 15 chips with it. The chips were nice but there wasn’t nearly enough of them. On top of the really poor quality food, it took an eternity to come, over half an hour. I was really surprised given that our table was pretty much the only one that had...
The restaurant didn't have any bitters available, and when I inquired, they could only offer me one option, which I tried but found to be bad. I had to settle for a larger drink instead. There was no salt or pepper on the table, and steak knives were provided only after I asked for them. One of the steaks was cooked slightly overdone, and the mushrooms were tough. I requested coffee, but the machine was broken—though they did have a kettle available! On a positive note, the manager did bring me a pint of bitter after changing the barrel, and it was much better than the first one.
I cannot believe this place had the nerve to send me a survey after our experience! I had booked a table for 12:30 to meet a friend for lunch at this pub, which was supposed to be a convenient halfway point for both of us after traveling for an hour. However, upon arrival, we were informed that the kitchen was closed and there was no food available. We received no communication from the pub to let us know in advance, which left us in a tough spot to rearrange our plans. Very disappointing! Food: 1, Service: 1, Atmosphere: 1.
We visited this restaurant yesterday to celebrate a special occasion, and it was a delightful experience. The food was wonderful, with a wide variety of options on the menu. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, especially Annie, who truly went above and beyond; she even brought her dog outside to meet us during her afternoon break. I attended the Bull for a Wake midweek lunchtime. Staff made us welcome on arrival, although they had not sorted out the tab beforehand. Slightly embarrassing for the Family that early guests had not been catered for drinks on arrival. Buffet lunch good , for a sausage aficionado, the snorkers looked anaemic and could have done with a few more minutes under the grill. Very comfortable and convivial atmosphere. It's worth a visit.
