We decided to do a mini road trip during COVID and today we made our way to Morris for lunch. We chose Burke as part of our initiative to support small businesses and we were not disappointed! The main restaurant was closed so we dined in the lounge area where children were also allowed due to the restaurant closures. The food was fantastic, except for the fries which were a bit greasy. The burgers, enjoyed by my husband and eldest child, were juicy and delicious with great flavor. The baked chicken burger was a hit with my middle child and youngest. on Thursday, the first day of the stampede, there was a special menu for the stampede. my problem was the fact that the menu would not offer any eggs that were left with over easy and hard. they wouldn't. sunny-side-up, cussed, posing and cooked. when I asked the waitress why she just said that the cook did not cook the because it is too busy, it was not busy, 2 other tables. I spoke my dissatisfaction about the lazyness of the cook. I have busy restaurants and would never cook a ei. we would have been fired. we left and informed others on the parking lot that the cook is lazy that he only cook over simple eggs. whoever owns this restaurant must find new kitchen staff.
We were traveling from Altona to Winnipeg after touring Conquest Builders. We were starving and did not know the area. We took a chance on Burke's Roadhouse Restaurant and Lounge. We didn't read a single rating or check out their menu; we just pulled over...and walked in. We had the most amazing New York that was cooked to perfection and handmade chicken fingers with a wonderful side garden salad. We were the only patrons in the restaurant, which is a shame because it is a wonderful establishment! The services was quick, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. It is definitely somewhere to stop if you are traveling the frigid highways of southern Manitoba.
It was a disaster from the time we walked in. We sat down and every question we asked our waitress she had no idea. My BF asked what kind of beer they had, so he ordered one and she brought the wrong one. Then we...ordered and got our food. It was a joke my sister and I both ordered the perogies and farmer sausage. We each received these two very thinly sliced pieces of meat and it was sour/spoiled. BF had ordered a three piece chicken dinner with fries. The fries were greasy and mushy. He bit into the chicken and it was frozen. Needless to say we left there only to go to a wonderful restaurant down the street. We will NEVER return again.
Super little local spot that serves up average grub. Nothing outstanding or disappointing found in this classic little town operation. The Lounge seems to be the draw while the restaurant was completely empty during the lunch hour we visited. Old time seating, standard menu items,...average coffee, expected service as noted average across the board. There were some Seniors specials which was a bit unusual but nice to see. Fairly large parking lot with confused spots. The locals seem to understand where the trucks are supposed to park but newcomers may be challenged to get things right. Prices are, like all things, average.
Even though the restaurant was bustling with customers, I didn't feel rushed at all. The food was absolutely delicious. I dined there with my team for five days straight, trying a different dish each time. We enjoyed the burgers, hot turkey, taco salad, Caesar wrap, rib special, parmesan schnitzel, and the $7.50 breakfast which included two pancakes, two eggs, bacon or sausage, and toast.
Seated promptly by a friendly waitress. Drinks ordered and food arrived in about 15 minutes. Good priced lunch specials. French fries are to die for. Perfectly cooked but not greasy. Soup special was a taco soup. Hearty full of beef and beans BLT wrap was...huge and delicious. I would definetly stop here again !
My partner and I stopped by last week at 11:30 and found the doors locked. Even though the restaurant is supposed to be open at 11:00, we were told in the lounge that the cooking staff had not yet arrived. This place is definitely not up to its usual standards!
we stopped for lunch on our way home from Nebraska. 2 piece chicken dinner and liver and onions. the liver was cooked perfect with carmelized onions and mashed potatoes. excellent chef to do that
