Burritos La Palma is a tough restaurant for me to review, because they are such a unique operation, and they do a few key things unexpectedly well. A hidden gem for Mexican cuisine! This popular takeout-only restaurant, located on Peck Road in El Monte, specializes in burritos and quesadillas, and they do them exceptionally well. The long line of eager customers speaks volumes about the quality of the food. I only found out about this place because my son recommended it, and I’m so glad we decided to give it a try. Very good! It reminds me of the taquerias in Mexicali, where they always have handmade taco-sized tortillas. These are more like the little burritos filled with meat, potatoes, shredded beef, tinga, and pork cracklings with beans that the vendors sell at the border crossings from Tijuana to Tecate and Mexicali. The tortilla was excellent—no salt at all—and the salsa was perfect, although I prefer mine spicier. There’s no dining area, so you’ll need to eat at home or in your car. This place, recognized by the Michelin Bib Gourmand, serves delicious homemade tortilla burritos filled with fresh shredded beef in either red or green sauce—definitely something you should order. You can also add borracho beans and mozzarella to your burrito for an extra treat. However, I wouldn't recommend the pork burrito, as it only contains slippery, cooked pork rinds. I saw this restaurant made it onto the Netflix show Taco Chronicles so I knew I had to give it a try. Omg. The burritos are delicious. I mean heavenly. If you’re in the area this place is a must try. I had the Tinga, deshebrada, and birria. Birria is one of my favorite foods but I gotta say the Deshebrada was amazing. Their salsa is simple but good. Will be returning every time I go to LA. You absolutely have to try the burritos here, especially the birria de res. In English, that refers to beef prepared in a flavorful, aromatic broth. Regardless of the translation, they're incredibly delicious! These burritos are quite substantial and definitely pack a punch. You'll find the restaurant in El Monte on Peck Road, right next to a fire station, so it’s hard to miss!
Found this place through the Michelin Bib Gourmand Homemade tortilla burritos with fresh shredded beef in a red or green sauce is what you have to order. You can add beans and mozzarella to the burrito as well. Don't get the pork burrito (it's just cooked and slippery pork rinds). Very helpful and friendly staff. This place serves excellent beer, and the flour tortillas are handmade. The beans are fantastic as well. I couldn't find anything wrong with this restaurant. Plus, it has a Michelin star, so you really can't go wrong! Highly recommended!
