This brand new 678 Korean BBQ is just a short walk away from Chinatown. While the place is smaller, and so it has less noise and people (don't you love a relaxing atmosphere when you eat? , I would prefer going to 678 in Haymarket. There is no difference in the meat quality, but the side dishes definitely are better at the original store. Being located among Chinese restaurants, 678 Chinatown adapts to the duo BBQ hotpot concept. Meat is grilled on top of the plates, and at the same time, the egg is steamed in the surrounding ring. It was horrible experience. I choose this place for our team outing, my team was exciting for kbbq. Eventually it made me so embarrassed. We were 10ppl so got buffet(All you can eat) $39 pp. they said 90min limited, unlimited korean bbq from wagyu beef pork. 1. Didn’t arrived side dishes after 15min the meats. Didn’t proper setup on the table at all. 2. Short staff. We called them so many time, they just passed us and ignored us. No smile, no answer, no response. When I arrived, the man at the counter offered me a table and informed me that I could enjoy everything on the menu. However, payment was not mentioned at that time. So, at the end of my meal, when he presented the bill, I was surprised to see the extra charge for the long weekend. I pointed out that Sunday is not a holiday; it’s just a regular Sunday during a long weekend. Furthermore, they hadn’t communicated that I would have to pay extra for that day, or that my choices were limited to a specific menu instead of enjoying everything. The staff member apologized but explained that the pricing system on his machine couldn't be altered. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience.
Good selection of meat for Korean bbq. Mind you that meat are portion control and some thinly sliced, then frozen. I guess for convenience during busy service. Meat taste was good, because no marinate, you have to dip with sauce available. For me salt and pepper will enhance the flavour of this meat. I always watch the TV show featuring Kang Ho-dong, and this restaurant did not disappoint! The free-flow side dishes are amazing. I love the Korean kimchi and the accompanying dishes like potato salad, macaroni, and fish cakes. You also get to make your own sauce. The meats I chose—premium wagyu, soy wagyu, pork, along with tofu soup and kimchi pancakes—were all fantastic. This is definitely one of my favorites!
Very popular place in Chinatown for KBBQ, they have a good menu. I found the meats very well cut and fresh which is very rare. Good amount of sides on offer with a very unique grill. Although I found the portions very small and would recommend to order two sets if in a group of four. The price is a bit high for my liking, good service and great ambience.
KBBQ is always heaps of fun when you have a large group of friends with you. Food is good quality and service isn't too bad. I feel like this place is slightly overhyped but still a decent feed. I absolutely love the KBBQ here! The meat was incredibly fresh, and the kimchi pancake was just perfect. The spicy kimchi side dish complemented everything so well. It paired wonderfully with all the meats we tried!
