As a local, this was my usual place on Tuesdays for a Kalua-Loco. I went for a Kalua Loco today to find out they don't do it anymore. A Kalua pig and Kohl-Loco. And it's disgusting! It was quite a mini-Kalua pig and cabbage with rice, not a real Loco moco. Everyone wants a good Kalua Loco look otherwise where! There's hardly any meat, mostly cabbage. It didn't even see appetite and it tasted as bad as it looks. Return the regular Kalua Loco with NO CABBAGE and stop stingy. Money food was wasted.
This is where we planned our first taste of Loco Moco. It was a fun experience to try a local food but there was no seating available, even outdoors all the tables were off limits and you had to wear a mask to order at their outdoor window. We ended up eating in the car. The Loco Moco was good and it was my first and only Loco Moco so I have nothing to compare it to but it?s award winning so I?m glad I tried it. My favorite was the Teri beef burger though! I wish we had that in Texas!
delicious local food to cheap trips in comparison to other places on the island. my picture is halfway away by destroying my super loco moco. soou tasty! masks are required to order at the window for the exit and they cannot sit outside in the restaurant, but if they pass by the building in the back, there is a parking area next to a pond (connected with the sea) with a picnic table. we ate and it was very nice.
Arrived at 1 PM. Only ordered a single super loco and a coke and the order took 40 minutes. Still good value but that?s a long time to wait for a single order. The other thing was people that had large orders (5 food items or more) that came after me were served first which seemed confusing. firm place! I came to lunch with a big group and got the Iceland girl, our command lasted less than 10min to get out and everything was really good! the prices seemed fair and the personal was great for us. as heads-up asks this place that it costumes wear masks, but we are still very nice to us and to receive us, no mask on the hand.
Charming Hilo mainstay, do you do everything you can to stop here on your visit?s SO WORTH IT My heart is full after this combination plate! (Chop Steak, Katsu Chicken, Beef Stew, Rice and Mac sal) Such an invaluable experience, regardless of long lines, rain or traffic to get there.
This a known Hilo eatery but it was the first time for meWith Cafe in the name I thought it was a sit down restaurant.
