Apologies if I've cross posted this, I only realised La Terrasse has two TripAdvisor entries, one for hotel and one for restaurant!It's been two years since we were able to return to the Alps on holiday, but within a day of arriving we made it a priority to revisit La Terrasse de Verchaix. We were pleased to see Philip and Louise still at the helm together with some great, young enthusiastic staff - Rose and Kate.I think we ate here at least three times during our stay, we just wanted to keep climbing up the hill to enjoy that terrific view and the great food. We have chosen to have my hubby's big birthday celebration at Louise & Phil's restaurant on our skiing trip this February. Having previously stayed at the hotel and enjoyed our food there, it was a great choice in a quite location. We opted for the house speciality 'Potence' which came with an impressive presentation by Louise. Phil’s wine recommendations were spot on. The food was really delicious – everyone absolutely loved it. At the end we had a birthday cake with candles that Louise made herself. Staying just up the road we chose to eat here Christmas Eve and would highly recommend it. As a party of ten, we had a variety of dishes including the house speciality 'Potence' which was quite a spectacle! Unfortunately my steak although delicious, was a little more under-done than I could eat and I requested for it to be cooked a little longer, they did more than this, cooking me a whole new meal with the chef personally apologising. We couldn't fault the service we received, including the firework and birthday wishes for my nephew who was celebrating his 17th birthday. A thoroughly enjoyable evening at a good price too.
Phil and Louise run the hotel and restaurant. I've stayed at the hotel and used the restaurant on a number of occasions.Regarding the restaurant the food and the wine has ranged from fantastic to truly excellent. Louise is the chef and she really cares about the quality of the food, the way it is cooked and presented. On sunday july 5th 2014 we had a very pleasant evening in La Terrasse de Verchaix. First sitting on the terras with a wonderfull view, later inside the restaurant, we enjoyed a very good diner. Very good cooking with vegetables from the garden of the restaurant en and a relaxed host and hostess, our familyevening was a succes. Try it yourself!!Johan and Janneke Koornstra
Excellent food at this hotel - definitely visit this Restaurant it has the best views in the valley. Try the speciality which is a flambé beef in whisky!
I had the 3 course deal and everything was very goodThe steak was cooked perfectly and the salad bar was better than i expexted it wpuld be.
