Beautiful and wonderful atmosphere, service was friendly but definitely pressured. Most importantly however is the food. I ordered the $21 grilled peach balsamic salad and it was more just a pile of plain lettuce a couple tasted pumpkin seeds and hardly anything else to make it a sald . No anything else except a few thin slices of radish in which bugs had eaten out the center and began to rot (top right corner in picture). Put something in it other than plain single strain lettuce. Then the peach was literally green, bitter and immature not ripe at all or even close. I let that slide as they were in a rush and I was hungry. So then came the bread and butter. When we were making our plans to visit Mendocino this past June, my husband and I quickly agreed that we had to make dinner reservations again at Cafe Beaujolais. We had dined there last June and very much enjoyed the experience, and CB did not disappoint on the second visit. We ate this time in the second floor room at the back of the restaurant, and it was like being in a tree house, with lots of space between the tables. The food was delicious, inventive and beautifully presented, and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant to fellow travelers to the lovely town of Mendocino.
Quaint, small former house updated as a restaurant. We went for brunch and it was very good. Premise is organic and locally farmed produce. I had eggs with their cheddar biscuits which was on the larger side.The coffee was strong somewhat like chicory coffee in New Orleans. The table was set nicely with more of an upscale vibe and attention to details as the sugar cubes for your coffee on a tin Serving dish decorated with a bird. They had a good crowd and I believe reservation only.
One of the finest dining experiences north of San Francisco. From the sweet table clothed dining room to the friendly service and the explosive flavors. Corn soup was a seasonal celebration. Only note we were first taken to sit overlooking the garden in a back over flow room that lacked any of the charm of the dining room. My husband and I came here in September 2024 for our honeymoon, and are already thinking of the day we'll return for an anniversary or just for a nice treat in Mendocino. We ordered the scallops, black cod, duck confit, and Vietnamese prawn salad. Each dish offered fantastic flavors, textures, and ingredients that were outside of our normal scope and made for a truly special experience.
Great food. A little busy thus their waitresses were a bit overwhelmed. For main course, we ordered the cod, scallops and truffle spaghetti (July 4th weekend special). For dessert, we shared a buttermilk panna cotta. In fact we tried all 3 restaurants they own this weekend. All were food!
Cafe Beaujolais' food was excellent. The ahi was very good. The octopus salad was good, but not the best. Duck was fabulous as was the scallops. Deserts were kind of average. Overall it was a good experience.
