We had requested the rounded corner booth in the main dining room and arrived 20 minutes early, planning to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. But instead, we were seated at a booth right next to our preferred one. A couple finished their meal shortly after we sat down, well before our 6:30 reservation.
We ordered a Beefeater gin and tonic and a very dry Beefeater martini. Both drinks had an unusual, perfume-like scent that was quite off-putting. My wife sent her drink back, and I decided to switch to a Bombay martini, but the same strange floral fragrance persisted. I regularly enjoy Beefeater and Bombay dry martinis and have never experienced this odd aftertaste before.

I'm an Italian American senior from NYC new to Albany. Have been disappointed with the handful of Italian restaurants I've eaten in since moving here 4 months ago. Cafe Capriccio is finally the real deal. Quality presentation and excellent food. When the server brought out my first dish which was mushroom bisque I knew my evening was going to be successful. Without tasting it I immediately offered a taste to my two dining mates. Needless to say it was fantastic. Our three main dishes were the Osso buco, chicken francese and chicken marsala. Cafe Capriccio special 40th Anniversary NYE menu was an array of delicious Capriccio classics thru the years...albeit some better than others. Although not a fan of the matter of fact style the wait service requested our 4 course pre paid dinner choices all up front once seated..I understand it was NYE and the kitchen needed to be ready. I coul;dn;t help but imagine a host of dishes just sitting in the kitchen waiting to be brought out..a la assembly line...and luke warm. Nonetheless, overall the flavors and presentation were fine and what you would expect from one of the stalwarts of italian dining in the Capital Region. We had an excellent dining experience with very good service. They did seem to encourage customers to order water, but it appeared that most people chose it anyway. I think they should consider offering a smaller salad option at a lower price, as it wasn’t very clear when they did. Overall, we would definitely return to this restaurant.

Everything was fantastic! Our celebration was exactly what we had hoped for. The food was delicious, and the drinks were excellent! Our waiter was funny, polite, attentive, and prompt. We truly enjoyed every moment!
I felt a bit rushed throughout my visit. I had to change tables during my meal. I ordered a pasta dish, but it arrived with the wrong type of pasta. However, it was still tasty. The cheesecake was excellent!
New years dinner late seating. Food fabulous especially the Ragu and the veal. Tiramisu exquisite!!! The cappuccino was first rate
The food is delicious and homemade, with fantastic specialties that cater to all tastes. It's an ideal choice for everyone!
