Cafe d'Angel - Tisch resevieren

It has been 2 years since I have eaten here last time. And because my business takes me to Paris every 2 years I try to eat in Le Caffe d'Angel at least twice in a week that I spend in Paris. So what is that I like here ? Well I could say that Deserts are fantastic - Especially Chocolat liegeoise, salted caramel juice and nougatine. Also the main courses and appetisers are very very good, but there is something else that attracts me here. And it is the atmosphere. It is that mix of "I do not care about anything, I will just do what I want and if somebody comes - nice, if they do not, even better" - what I am trying to say is that the floor and the tables have the very same pattern of the sto...

I ordered duck and libber and waiter asked me if I wanted it rare, medium or. I did not let him finish: RARE. Tough the duck and libber were great, duck was over cooked, very in fact: the meat was not even pink in the inside but brown; and I like it rare : strong dark maroon color.I left a small piece unfinished, and when asked by the waiter how it was, I said good but over cooked, and pointed to the meat.To my surprise, she just said I am sorry and did not even mention about it to the chef. The restaurant is tiny, located in a small street close to the Champs Elysées. There was a huge group of people (locals) when we arrived and we were 10 which made me expect the worst in terms of food and service. I was soooo wrong! Not only the food was excellent, absolutely delicious (and I'm usually fussy) but the service was friendly without being overwhelming.Do not expect fancy, pretentious or elegant, this is honest real fresh homemade food. You can feel the love the chef puts in his cooking. I told the chef I adopted his place as one of my Paris favorite restaurants.!

We ate here at the recommendation of Rick Steves and it was good food, welcoming atmosphere and unpretentious. We always order the menu because it usually is less expensive. We are wine snobs and enjoyed the wine the wiater selected for us. dinner for 2 was $122.00 with a bottle of wine so that gives you the price range. the menu is 3 courses. As I recall I would term this french country food but excellent preparation of our duck and cooked to perfection. We are game eaters so we will almost always order it if it is on the menu. The welcome is standard, no special effort, no special smile, a little bit disappointing. I was early, my friend arrived 20 minutes later, I was taken my coat and installed.We had a vegetable soup of the day (good, yet not warm enough) a daurade, on barely cooked vegetables, healthy food. Everything is nice, nicely presented, yet nothing more than what I cook at home. Where is the additional magic?We left after a coffee. I was simply said : your coat is at the front, and had to help myself.As a summary, well placed, tasty, quick service, lacks of warmth and magic.

Was taken here by local hosts on a business trip. Had the 2 course set meal. The restaurant added a small quinoa salad as a pre-starter course. After that had the tomato, grapefruit and parmesan salad with pesto and then bream and roasted vegetables for main. All very delicious with good friendly service.
