....... after a twenty minute wait for two beers!! We arrived at 21:00 for a quick snack and left at 22:45. The food (when it arrived) was fine but we needed to find our own cruet. We also calculated our own bill and handed the cash over as we left. The young waiter and waitress seemed overwhelmed and under trained. We agree with many French reviewers regulars seemed to get quite prompt service. Where was the manager? WHO was the manager? IS THERE A MANAGER? Our advice? Don't waste time wondering just don't go there, unless you're studying sociology.
After a terrible meal elsewhere in Rochefort the night before this was just what we needed. The place looks brand new. Both of us had the burgers (mine double 360g) with fries. Burgers are freshly made steak mince cooked to your preference and the fries superb. Had a Bourgueil wine recommended which was lovely and smooth. Their Cafe Gaurmand excellent Nice chatty atmosphere with unimposing music in the background. All staff friendly and attentive

Best value is happy hour every day from 6-7.30 when a pint is £3.Used this as our local during our 2 week stay. Typical French service I.e. First meal in Rocheford stumbled across this square by accident. So was pleased to find the restaurant. Meal choice as very good, dish of the day excellent value at €14 ,3 nice courses. Main menu seemed all good value.
the service is pleasant and the setting is friendly. and that's it. Don't come here for the quality of the dishes. cooking, random cooking and hot dishes. Too bad, this coffee of peace has so much potential.
My wife and I had lunch here on a day trip to Rochefort. We had different meals and both were very poor. Both meals had way too much bread and some sort of dressing all over both meals. Very disappointed.
