My group and I had an excellent Sunday brunch at Cafe Melissa! We waited for our table for about 15 minutes before being seated. The waitress was new but did a good job despite it being a busy Sunday morning. We ordered coffees and ice teas, which were nothing special and a bit bland. We were impressed by the prices of the brunch items as well as the portion sizes. I ordered the North of the Border omelette, with Canadian bacon, Swiss cheese, onions, and poblanos. Unfortunately, I couldn't taste the poblanos, but the Canadian bacon was deliciously salty. We have visited Cafe Melissa many times before. Recently, due to a storm causing power outages throughout the city, we decided to order takeout mid-week. We placed our order online but received a notification that the restaurant had not accepted our order. When we tried to call, there was no answer as their internet was also down. My husband decided to stop by on his way home, but they did not have our order due to the internet outage. Despite preparing to close soon and being unable to take more orders, the employees were kind enough to make our food after seeing our online receipt. The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere and offers a variety of vegan options, salads, and entrees. I tried the chicken tenders which were tender and juicy. The warm goat cheese side salad was delicious on its own, but I wish they offered a larger size. My spouse enjoyed the burger with goat cheese, sweet potato, and pico de gallo, which was refreshing. This restaurant has really declined. The tables are dirty, there is a bad smell, the cups have old food crusted on them, the booths are constantly moving because they are broken, and the food was terrible. I cannot recommend this place in good conscience and will not be returning. I suggest going to Parker's instead. This place is truly disappointing. Excellent local restaurant with a unique menu, personable and helpful service. Great for both a weekend brunch, and a regular lunch or dinner. I absolutely adore this restaurant! The food is superb and the service is excellent. We dined in for dinner and the price per person ranged from $20 to $30. I would give this place a perfect 5 for both food and service, as well as the overall atmosphere. I highly recommend trying the Pulled Chicken Risotto and the Burger.
The brunch was fantastic! The service was excellent and we enjoyed sitting outside. We look forward to returning soon.
