After reading the fantastic reviews, my fiancé and I decided to give this place a try for breakfast about a month ago. While we found the food to be decent, we weren't particularly impressed. The main issue was that both our meals arrived a bit cold, which was surprising given how quickly they were served. We decided to return today, hoping for a better experience since the restaurant has such great reviews. Unfortunately, our second visit was just as average, mainly due to the pricing. It's very meh. It felt like they made everything before hand and then they sat under warmers.y hash browns were crispy on the top, but the bottom wasn't and it was cut in a rectangle. My eggs were similar to my sandwich. I got a rustic sandwich which is supposed to be toasted, but it wasn't toasted. It was more warmed in the toaster. My bread was soggy in the middle and ended up sagging. I'm not sure when the owner has tasted this food last. The amount of people to the staff was significantly low. And people are vultures when it comes to a table. My goodness, you haven't even finished leaving and they sit down. Won't be going here again. For those prices Revolution Roasters has better toast.
This is absolutely the best place for breakfast or brunch! The food is incredible, clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The service is just as great; every time we've been here, the staff has been very friendly. Whenever we visit Southern California, specifically Carlsbad, we always make it a point to stop by Café Topes. We love the seasonal menu items. Our go-to dish is the Crack’n Eggs, which is a perfect portion for two people to share. The tri-tip is incredibly tender—you hardly need a knife! And don't forget to try the cinnamon roll; it’s a must!
We visited this restaurant for brunch and I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Unfortunately, the chicken was rather bland and could have used more seasoning. The brioche bread became soggy from the coleslaw, which also lacked flavor. The fries were well-seasoned but unfortunately burnt. The waitress kindly brought us a fresh order of fries, which were really tasty. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes, eggs, and hash for around $30. The portions were large enough to share between two people and left us feeling full. The food was quite delicious, especially with some added seasoning. There’s also a Circle K right across the street for convenience. I arrived at 11:30, which was perfect timing; my order was ready by noon. The staff was very friendly and offered us water when they brought our food. Additionally, there is plenty of street parking available.
The food at this place is fantastic! It’s not commercialized; instead, you get delicious, home-cooked style breakfasts. The chai latte is probably the best I’ve ever tasted! We had an amazing first visit and will definitely be returning. Plus, they allow dogs in the outdoor seating area!
I've been visiting this place for years, and it never fails to impress. I always recommend trying the lavender honey latte, and the breakfast burrito and country fried steak are both excellent too.

The coffee was a bit bitter but overall not too bad, the breakfast burrito was good and the service was great.
