Popped in with a friend last week after not visiting for a while. We didn't stay. It was quite full but none of the tables were wiped while we waited for one that came available. While we waited no member of staff asked if we wanted to wait; if they could help us etc. It is said that the Emperor Nero played his fiddle while Rome burned. Like him, the staff seemed not too interested in what was happening around them. Maybe if the place had a facelift in terms of decor, it might be more welcoming and make the staff more willing. On previous occasions, we felt more comfortable. We have no reason to assume that the coffee itself had deteriorated but when you just visit for a quick coffee and cha...
Before heading to the restaurant for lunch, we gathered together. There was only one staff member working at the coffee house, preparing orders and serving drinks. Another waitress arrived, looking upset and muttering to herself as she begrudgingly took off her coat to assist the other waitress. The service felt hurried and it was clear that the staff member did not enjoy being there. Unfortunately, my coffee was not up to par, making the overall experience less than pleasant.
I always come to this restaurant for lunch. They serve the best coffee, especially if you like it strong, but they can adjust it to be lighter if that's your preference. The staff is very friendly, but it can get quite noisy when they are cleaning and emptying machines. One downside is that all the air conditioning units are always on full blast, making it uncomfortable to sit there on a rainy day because it gets quite chilly.
I recently visited Cafe Nero for the first time and I must say, it was the best coffee I have had in a long time. They offer a nice selection of hot and cold sandwiches, cakes, and more, but I highly recommend trying their coffee if you are in the area. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. I only stopped here as I was early for an appointment nearby. Very busy branch. Clean. Friendly and fast service. Nice atmosphere. Had an americano to drink and the gingerbread biscuit. Good and can't complain. Fast free wifi.
Coffee in a beautifully appointed cafe with yummy cake or pasta or porridge depending on the time of day makes Nero a lovely place to unwind in. Staff needs to smile a bit more though to sweeten a cold welcome:
A G-d send for Stanmore.... Coffee always lovely, coupled with their porridge... Very quiet and peaceful. Not overtly cheap, buT no coffee shop is nowadays.
