We highly recommend this charming little café in Coronado that my husband and I discovered and instantly fell in love with. When we saw they offered Lamb Shank, we couldn't resist trying it, especially since Alex is a huge fan of lamb. We were delighted by the authenticity of the dish—it was incredibly flavorful and tender. The sides were delicious as well. The service was excellent! Hanan, who I believe is the owner, was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu and the surrounding area. She took great care of us during our visits. A perfect lunch spot if you work on the strand, a hidden gem. Was brought here by a work friend and was not disappointed! The small owned business was SO friendly and pleasant to interact with. They have daily specials and a good variety of food from sandwiches, salads and pasta. Unfortunately it was raining when we came however there is a nice view of the harbor. And you pay AFTER you eat at the counter, that really makes the atmosphere seem very chill. I enjoyed a Greek salmon salad, the salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the taste and amount of dressing was on point. The serving size was large , I probably could have used more olives or cucumber but I won't whine too much.
Visited the Calypso Café last weekend. It's a cute cafe but seemed more like a convenient spot for locals and those taking their boats out at the CCYC. This cafe is a mix of made to order food and grab n go drinks (including coffee and alcohol) and snacks (like upscale convenience store). With a name like Calypso Café I was expecting more variety in their selection though. But we were satisfied with our orders. Everything was fresh and tasty. We ordered two meat lover's omelettes and they were filling! Thanks for a great experience!
While my friends managed to find us a table, I placed our food order. I ordered enough for everyone to share, but then the cashier/owner tried to charge us $2.50 for plastic utensils and $1.50 for a cup of hot water. This felt outrageous! I understand that prices have increased everywhere, but being treated as though we were less important than other customers is just unacceptable. I gave this place one star for its friendly employees, decent location, and passable food, but I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Soulful local spot with great parking and splendid marina. The owner was very welcoming and gracious. They have extensive breakfast, brunch and dinner options. Variety of wines to distress and non-alcoholic drinks to re-thirst yourself. It was impressive to know that location grew from coffee cart to multiple rooms with front and back patio. They need to work on their social media scheduling updates. We came back a week later to find out that they were closed. Otherwise definitely be back!
Staff was friendly and food was served quickly and the orders were correct. There was limited seating inside, and there were more tables outside. The view outside was great with a water view. The food was good and a good sized portion. It was filling and for less of an appetite would even provide a take home meal. I'd come back again for a sandwich when in the area.
Owner greeted us welcoming us in taking our 2 orders so food would be ready at same time. Such a wonderful employee delivered our food with a beautiful smile informing us that they were going to start having early bird dinners a few nights week extending their hours those nights to 6 pm. Beautiful seating outside!
