I lived in Southern California for nine years and had the pleasure of the finest food from the Mexican heritage. The food here is the most authentic I have found anywhere in the tri state area. Every time the food is fantastic and not Americaned down. Simply the best I 've had. The folks that own and run this restaurant remember our name and what we ordered last time in. If you haven 't been, regardless of how far, it is worth it. Never have I been treated better than here. We drive 50 miles and we have a Mexican restaurant in the city we live on. The atmosphere is very welcoming and warm. The staff sees to everything, and this establishment honors veterans with a discount. 10 stars
Some very nice people here providing great service, but the food was not good today. Previously, maybe 6 or 7 years ago I had some good carnitas here. Should have stuck with that. Today I had the chile relleno. It was bad. Chile was not ripe, not roasted enough, seemed to be wrapped in scrambled eggs, and was stuffed with what seemed to be mozzarella cheese. Bitter, crunchy and hard to eat. taco was just meh. not much flavor. Refried beans were okay. Guacamole needed some lime and salt for my tastes. Chips were warm, served quickly and the salsa was bland. The place is kind of fun to look at, but it was 100 years old before they moved in. It shows its age.
Tasty Mexican restaurant in a small city in West Central Illinois.. A group of 14 were served liked we were a small group of 4. Good selection I think the whole menu was tasted.. Margaritas were plentiful.. good size servings.. very reasonable.. Downside.. very noisy.. but a full restaurant with alcohol flowing equals noise. I am not a fan of Mexican.. I think it all tastes the same, but this food comes with graciousness. If you are hungry.. you can't go wrong at this home town restaurant. Oh, I forgot 3% surcharge for credit card...
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic. We were one of the few customers there, allowing the staff to provide excellent service. The food came out quickly, and we were able to enjoy our meal before the dinner rush. The atmosphere was also great, scoring a perfect 5. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a dine-in dinner experience, with a price range of $10-20 per person. Food quality, service, and ambiance all received top marks from me.

I enjoyed the steak tacos at this restaurant. The beans were also delicious. I particularly enjoyed their hot salsa, but you have to request it. The bathrooms were clean. The service was average for dining in at dinner time. The price per person is typically between $20-30. I would give the food a rating of 4, the service a rating of 3, and the atmosphere a rating of 3. I recommend trying the Street Tacos and the Steak.
We have come here twice now with a large group for family events. They are so kind and accommodating. The food was fantastic and for a group of 20+ I was blown away with how fast they brought the food out. Everything was wonderful! We were there for my mom's birthday and they brought out an ice cream cake for our table. I highly recommend Camino Real! Excellent service and food!

Stopped for lunch with the hubby. We had the Fajitas Reales. So delicious. The prices were amazing. Large portions. Great service. Fun authentic Mexican decor. Causal atmosphere. Average noise level. We will definitely be coming back.
