Camp Robber was a relief to find when my husband and I were passing through Montrose. We were traveling with our dog, so it was incredibly tedious finding places that allow them, and ended up finding this spot solely based on that criteria we were pleasantly surprised! We ordered the chips, salsa, and guac platter for an appetizer (simple yet delicious), I got the Asian BBQ chicken salad, and my husband got the 1/3 lb Elk Burger. My salad was fresh and light (only used half of the dressing that came with it) and my husband LOVED his burger. The back patio is dog friendly with plenty of shade. It was a hot day, but we had a cooling vest and gave our pup plenty of ice water so she was all set.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch here on Thurs. 8/22/24. Though the prices were a bit higher than expected, the ambiance, food and service more than made up for them! Tia B was a sweet ray of sunshine: attentive, kind, patient, and enthusiastic. We enjoyed the street tacos, quinoa salad and salmon pasta. Everything was top notch, including the generous portions! I thank the staff for making us feel truly WELCOMED. Hubby and I were visiting from FL--we'll be sure to visit Camp Robber again, next time in town! I was pleased to see SO many recognition certificates at reception area wall--looks like this restaurant is a vibrant part of this community!
Camp robber has decent food but definitely needs to work on their servers…. Terrible experience with a rude server. I ordered a drink and went for my ID and she said “oh no I don’t need to see your ID but I need to see hers… (my friend that is 5 years younger than me) sitting next to me. Then she says “she doesn’t look as old as you do” I was shocked that she said that out loud!! All while we are there celebrating my 37th birthday! Now I feel like I need some Botox or something. What you say to people really does go deep…. As a server I would expect a bit more filter…
First I will say the service was great and the atmosphere was good. The food was a bit pricey for the quality in my opinion. I got the special chilaquiles which came with tortilla chips with shredded monterrey jack, some roasted chicken strips, and an egg on top. The chips had no crunch and the whole dish was pretty dry. Some salsa or pico would have added much needed moisture and flavor. If you have higher prices you must deliver good dishes and based on that I will not be back.

We base-camped in Montrose for our trip to Ouray and Telluride. This is definitely a gem, especially for those with allergies. There were plenty of GF/DF choices and they were able to accommodate special requests to mod other dishes. They even had an allergy-free dessert (raspberry chocolate cake) on special that was delicious. Finally, my burger was perfect. Looking forward to coming back soon.
It’s a good restaurant, family friendly trying to be upscale. The food was good but fish tacos were hard yo eat, a little tiny shell overloaded with filling that just falls apart. The club was good. Restaurant and restrooms were clean and everyone was friendly.
You can always tell when someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing, and this is absolutely one of those places. The food was excellent, came out quickly and hot, and the service was very friendly. Don't miss this excellent restaurant!
They offer a variety of food for everyone's dietary needs. Great service and great food! Love their non alcoholic options as well.
