This restaurant was truly a pleasant surprise. Searching for another, we saw the sign for Can Ferriol and decided to follow it beside a cycle track made from the old Palamòs Palafrugell railway line. It was a Saturday in June, and it was good to see that there was no shortage of family cyclists. The restaurant has two dining rooms, both decorated as though they still belong to the family, with lots of books, photos and ornaments. The food, cooked and brought to the table by mother and daughters, was of excellent quality. Good value, too, at €16 for a weekend lunchtime menu. We had been advised by friends to visit to but when we arrived at lunch time, we did not like the look of restaurant and decided to eat at the beach instead. The next day we found a dog on a road, called the owner and by co-incidence it was the Can Ferriol restaurant’s dog. We took him back and made a booking for the evening as the owners were so nice. The fig and ham starter was simple but incredible. This was followed by a paella that was amazing. Only my mother in laws is better. A majestic creme catalunya followed. My children loved Can Ferriol so much we went back, I ate the fig starter again, followed by apple and foie gras millle fuille, both were incredible. The best food that I had...
On a hot sunny October day we swam at platja Castells and then went for lunch at Mas Ferriol. A lovely relaxing place with a real family welcome. The two children were well catered for and their food arrived very quickly. For the adults there is a selection of traditional Catalan fare. The goat cheese salad was delicious as was the gazpacho with ice cream. The pigs trotter with snails is only for the adventurous. Pigs cheek is a better bet for non-Catalans. Altogether a delightful place. Very good value for the quality of the food and attentive, pleasant, staff.
One year on from our last visit and sometimes restaurants can lose their way in a year, not the case with Mas Ferriol The fig salad, foie gras and Gazpacho are incredible and the rice is one of of the best.
