This is my first time based on the recommendation of a local and I was not disappointed. The food was plentiful and very well priced. The quality was top notch. And there were plenty of happy servers ready to take care of every need. A couple of critiques: the salsa was great with good heft and texture, but needed more zip. They provided hot sauce so that took care of the spice issue. Nachos Cancun needed more chips to compensate for the toppings, but the quintessential chips and salsa provided before I ordered came with tons of extra chips so this wasn't a huge problem overall. Beyond that, it was an amazing meal. Just needed some personal tweaking. No worries. Everyone has different tastes...
This was our third visit to Cancun Grill and Cantina and once again it did not disappoint. The restaurant offers fantastic weekly and daily specials, along with a wide selection on their lunch menu. The food was served hot and fresh, even though we came during a slower time in the afternoon. We tried their $2.99 Wednesday house margaritas and were very pleased with our meals. I highly recommend the tamales as a side dish - they were delicious! The guacamole is also a standout and definitely the best we've had locally. This adorable restaurant has a charming atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the unique bathroom sink design. The food was delicious, but I was a bit disappointed by the small size of the lunch taco salad. However, the portions of chimichanga sides were quite generous. The salsa lacked spice, but the shredded spicy chicken in the chimichanga made up for it! The menus, water, and food were served promptly, but we had to wait a long time for the bill. Despite this, the prices were reasonable. I would definitely return if I find myself in that area of Des Moines again. The service for dine-in was satisfactory.
This place is amazing, my friend recommended it and I spent the night at the truck stop. The food is absolutely amazing, fresh and well seasoned, attention to detail. Someone in that kitchen loves cooking and it shows. The service from the moment you walk in makes you feel welcome and I know I'll be back whenever I'm in town. The service at this restaurant is excellent. Roberto at the bar was friendly and made sure to personally check on us regularly. I highly recommend this place. The restrooms were also very clean, which is always important.
