Popped in today 1st time and the last. Not the friendliest of greetings and certainly not dog friendly as when I asked they said the dog was only allowed in the snug, which was a small cove with 4 seats. The drinks were £10.60 for 2 pints (only paying £8.10 where were staying not far away) and the worst about it we planned on eating until we noticed the 2 stars on the food ratings. On leaving we took our glasses back to the bar as we always do and saying thanks, the staff couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge us. Even if only for a Pit stop, dont bother Service: 1
1 star is purely on food Its awful I had steak pie, it was basically half cooked pieces of steak, onions (which looked like frozen ones from supermarket) and most watery gravy ive ever seen with pastry on top it was vile I cant understand how a chef could send that to someones table . Cost about £15 and was the worse meal ive ever had in a pub The burgers again about £15 totally a frozen burger in a bun I wouldnt eat here again Its ok when you just want a drink
If it's character you are after then this is the place. It's a little isolated, but that wasn't a problem for my 1 night stay. Rooms are comfy and clean. The room tv is tiny, bit again not a problem. Called in o Saturday evening with the kids for a meal and was told booking only, I asked if I could book and was told no, if it had been busy I would understand, That’s 6 meals and serval drinks later they lost out on but I suppose £300 is nothing to a pub these days, Staff weren’t introduced

We tried the Sunday roast carvery and it was pretty good.everything was cooked well. The cost was fair given what we ate and drank. I only removed one star because I absolutely loathe having my food served on a roofing slate, especially when I've been laying them most of my life. Service: 5
