Anything you order here will be fabulous! The emphasis is on healthy meals with only the freshest of ingredients used and with a Middle Eastern influence. The meals are beautifully presented and substantial. The little kitchen is clearly visible whilst sitting inside so it is apparent how cleanly the chefs work. The coffee, too, is important here with different blends showcased on any given day. We have tried dozens in the years that we have been patronising Canteen and all have been delicious. They bake their own gluten free bread and serve it as a side order, toasted. We visited Canteen Kitchen during our visit to the Gold Coast. A small unassuming cafe with simple and elegant decor. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the good weather and the service was friendly and prompt. I had the cumin scrambled eggs which were amazing, the flavours were very lovely. My friend had the tabouli breakfast salad which she enjoyed. Both meals were well portioned and filling. The coffee was good quality, you can tell the baristas know their stuff. If you have the chance to visit you won't be disappointed.
Canteen Kitchen and Canteen Coffee occupy a small space in between James and Park Streets Burleigh Heads. They are separate buildings but operate as one.I called in to Canteen Kitchen for lunch but my coffee was delivered from the Canteen Coffee next door - and very good it was. As was my lunch... two poached eggs sitting on stewed spinach, which in turn was sitting on grilled halloumi.Lunch (inc coffee) was $19... good value. It's also worth mentioning that the service standards are very high.
I eat regularly at the Middle Eastern-influenced Canteen, and have not had a bad meal. Have had the lamb and chicken burgers, the cumin scrambled eggs, creamed spinach and haloumi with poached - my favourite being their green harissa paste. The staff are always lovely, the coffee is always excellent and indoor photo collection of vintage Gold Coast is a nice touch. Everyone I take there loves it. My go-to breakfast joint in Burleigh.

Great coffee, and a beautiful lite menu. Something different to the usual heavy breakfast items. They seem to take a lot of care with the preparation of their food. Only negative is the "smoothies" on their menu aren't what you'd expect. They are pre-bottled store bought juices which was disappointing.
Met up with a friend for coffee. Had an iced tea which was beautiful. It's a little loud with the kitchen right there but the menu looked fantastic so will go back for breakfast soon. Waitress was nice and it was easy to get a table. Open and airy which was nice.
When staying at Burleigh Heads we always have breakfast at Canteen Kitchen and I can't fault it. The menu is full of delicious middle eastern inspired dishes (cumin scrambled eggs is my favourite) the service is always spot on and the coffee brilliant.
Small and a bit back from the beach this place is worth hunting out. My salad of watermelon, rocket, pepitas and a few other things was put together well and was nutritious and tasty.

Tucked away little gen with top coffee and gorgeous food to match. Will definitely return. Need to try the rest of the menu!
In an alley off James St. Is this gem. Great coffee and outdoor seating makes for a relaxing meeting and chat.
