Stayed at the Embassy Suites for 6 nights. The first night we ate at Caprese, but there was a special event taking up the whole restaurant so we were seated on the patio. That was okay, because it was a beautiful October evening. The flatiron steak was on the chewy side, but the vegetables were fine. My husband had shrimp fettucini and thought it was okay, but not great. We were the only diners on the patio, so the service could have been better as I think we were overlooked. Tried to go back the next night to see if we'd have better luck, but again, another special event, so we went around the corner to Joe Theissman's restaurant, and ate there 4 more times before leaving Alexandria! Capers is located in the Embassy Suites hotel right by the King Street metro station, making it the ultimate in convenience. It was very quiet on our weeknight trek to celebrate a birthday with a light dinner and a piece of cake. Once the waiter heard what we were there for, he went out of his way to give a special experience... chocolate decadence cake, with sprinkles and a candle. They get a big A-plus for the effort.
The service staff seemed to be struggling even though the restaurant was only half full. It is possible that they were also handling room service orders from the fully booked hotel, but it would have been better to have enough staff on hand to accommodate the hotel's capacity.
We decided not to dine at the restaurant as it was not a genuine dining establishment. Instead, it appeared to be the continental breakfast area of a hotel. We were very disappointed with the lack of ambiance and overall experience, as it was not what we were expecting.

We didn't even eat in the restaurant. It wasn't even a real restaurant. This looked like the continental breakfast area in a hotel. Very disappointing, least to say. Not the ambience or experience we've been looking for.
Good options, well prepared usual choices in salad, duck, wine through the bottle or glass. In the subway of King St Alexandria, such a chance to walk the historic streets. Quibble: too brightly lit! Get a rheostat man!

My partner and I went out for Valentine's Day dinner and had a really enjoyable meal. There was only one waiter serving our section, and he was doing his best, but he couldn't be in multiple places at once.
