I placed an online order with Captain D’s directly, not through a third-party website, and had to wait nearly 30 minutes for my meal. Despite arriving on time, I was told to wait and my food was left sitting on the counter for another 20 minutes. The young ladies at the counter were not apologetic and instead laughed as they told me to have a nice night. It was disappointing that my food was not hot when it finally arrived. What is the point of ordering ahead if there is still a long wait time? Additionally, I just discovered that my order was incorrect as I only received 6 shrimp when I had ordered a 2-piece fish and 6 shrimp meal.
I visited this restaurant to pick up an order for a friend who is unable to walk. It was senior day, and my friend, who is 67, was not allowed to have me pick up her order with her credit card. Despite explaining the situation to the manager, they initially wanted to charge me the regular price. Thankfully, a kind elderly man who was inside the restaurant picking up an order stepped in and made the order for me. I am grateful for his help and thankful to Captain D’s for their understanding. God is good and sends help when we need it. Thank you, Captain D’s and the kind stranger who assisted us.
Our meal consisted of shrimp, fish, coleslaw, and fries. My husband requested to swap his coleslaw for green beans, but the waitress initially brought the meal with coleslaw. After he asked for the change, she mumbled something about getting him a new plate. We never saw her again after that and she ignored our request. The coleslaw was cold and not crispy. The fish was tasty and the shrimp were a bit on the larger side. Captain D's can be hit or miss. You never know if the food will be good or not, and the service can vary greatly. Their staff seems to change frequently.
I haven't met such friendly and helpful fast food restaurant staff in a while. The senior specials on Wednesday and Saturday are fantastic ($7 for fish, two sides, and a small drink). We both ordered the grilled tilapia, which was delicious and cooked just right.
