Captain George's Fish & Chips in Aurora has a Wellington St E address, but does NOT face onto the street. Instead, this fish & chip restaurant is one of three or four other businesses tucked into the side of the building, facing the parking lot shared with the Canada Trust TD Bank on the corner of Yonge St and Wellington St.... a location potentially sub-optimal for attracting new customers. To overcome this, there are a multitude of signs highly visible both from Wellington St E and from Yonge St advertising both the restaurant and the all-day special... Haddock and Chips for $6.75. That was certainly enough to get my attention for a quick lunch.The restaurant size is what one would expect...
When we entered Captain George's to try their All You Can Eat lunch, we were enthusiastically greeted by the owner, who took our order quickly and sat us down.It's a fish and chips restaurant, so it's as you'd expect nautical decorations, bright colours and lots of lighting. While the seating was hardly luxurious, the fish and chips were top notch. The only thing keeping us from coming more regularly is it's proximity to one of the worst intersections in York Region... Yonge St. and Aurora Road.With the traffic lights and turning issues to the Go-Train traffic, getting to Captain George's can sometimes be a pain. And that's too bad, as their fish is great.
I thought this was local Aurora place, its been there forever but it turns out there are 12 locations. I assume the owners run it themselves, very nice and welcoming. They recommended the $6.75 special which I opted for. Piece of fish was a good size portion and fries were great. All in all a quick lunch (with a can of coke) for $9. Looks like they had lots of take out options especially for families.
We ordered the halibut fish and chips and the haddock fish and chips; both were really good. Batter was tasty but not greasy. We couldn't really tell the difference in taste between the haddock and halibut. The fries were really good; not greasy or heavy either. Would got there again! My wife and I go here often. The food is good and reasonably priced (go for the daily special). The location sucks but the service is good and the place is pleasant and very clean. Take out is good, too. Portions are good - just...More
Never knew this place was there. Good food. Decent portions. Good value. Considering there isn't much in Aurora for fish I'm glad I found this place. I would definitely go back.
Lovely people running this place. They have the very best hand cut chips in town. I treat myself to the shrimp and chips plate once in a while. Clean and very fair prices.

$6.75 for fish & chip lunch with coleslaw. Fast and efficient service. Good location. Nice little sit down dining room. Would recommend.
