I'm so disappointed, this is my first really bad review of a business ever. I had the best ever souvlaki from Captain's Choice Fish and Chips about 3 years ago. And I've travelled from Croydon before to have their Souvlakis. Having moved back to the area late last year, we were pretty excited to have another of their souvlaki's. About 2 months ago we ordered from them and received really average fish and chips, souvlaki's, dimsims and potato cakes. We thought, ok, so they had a bad night. Well tonight, we decided to try again...big mistake, we have thrown away 1 1/2 lamb souvlakis, huge and filled with tons of meat (although it tasted nothing like lamb??? , hardly any salad, no tomato in sig...
I have been a loyal customer of Captain's Choice since they first opened, and I always used to enjoy their food. However, ever since the original owners sold the restaurant, the quality of the food has noticeably declined. Tonight (10/9/2022) was especially disappointing. I ordered a Captain Burger, a lamb souvlaki, and a side of chips. Unfortunately, the best part of the meal was the chips. The burger lacked sauce and flavor, and the souvlaki was extremely oily with a lot of fat in the meat. This meal was a sad farewell to years of delicious food at Captain's Choice.
“Souvlaki” was Dried up chucks meat not really sure if it was all pork but was definitely not lamb as was ordered. There was no garlic sauce, tomato no show.Scallops were the size of a 5 cent piece, one was hollow empty batter shell.Food was most disappointing and will not go back.
The best souvlakis in the eastern suburbs! The portions are generous and the quality is top-notch. The meat pieces are delicious and it's great value for money. Used to be great. But then it was sold to the same people as always, like all the other formerly good fish chip shops. Within a year standards drop. Lamb souvlaki is about 99% pork, and was tasteless. Chips were yellow and squishy
Still our go to fish and chips but quality has dropped over the past couple of years. Also recently ordered a steak sandwich and it came in a burger bun. Nice enough but that's not a steak sandwich
The former owner was excellent and kept the restaurant very clean. The overall experience was better before, especially with the meat dishes not being as good as they used to be.
Very disappointed by the quality and portion of the HSP. $19 for large HSP that looks like a small portion is just sad. Meat was also chopped very haphazardly with Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
was here a lot of time to always fulfill my expectations. the chicken schnitzelburger was really tasty, well made and excellent for worth. very recommended!
