I wish there was a restaurant like this in Winston-Salem, NC. I would love to bring the entire staff and all the delicious food home with me in my SUV. We stumbled upon this place thanks to a recommendation from a man who overheard us talking about wanting something different. The food was incredible, earning it an A grade in my book. You will not be disappointed if you give it a try. I had cabbage, sweet potatoes with brown sugar, a cornbread muffin, and two delicious beef ribs (which can be hard to find at restaurants). My brother had meatloaf, cabbage, rice, and a cornbread muffin.
They need one in Winston-Salem NC.... I want to put the whole restriction and the staff in my SUV and take them home with me. We knew nothing about this place and a man over heard us talking about finding something we can't get at home and recommended this place. OMG the food was awesome they have a grade of an A. Wonderful experience, food was so good, it would make you wanna smack your Momma. Cornbread, Collards Mac'n Cheese, O.M.G.. Entrée were off the chain, Bang Bang Shrimp, Smothered Pork Chops, Stuffed Salmon, and Fried Catfish. Lots of other options just couldn't get to them all. Came here for dinner on Sunday- first I would like to point out how I appreciate the business for being open and serving the public during this pandemic. Thank you. Next I want to point out my experience with the Bar Tender Val, I remembered her name because my mom shares the same name. Val was more than amazing I watched her engage with other patrons and what I noticed was nothing other but stellar service. This restaurant seemed well ran, my waiter Wayne did a good job of explaining the menu and helping me identify something dairy free. This was one of the best Kale salads I?ve eaten, and my entree was delicious. The black beans were cooked perfectly as they didn?t have the usual strong taste of the bean that runs people away, the cabbage was cooked to precision, and the catfish paired well with the crab and shrimp grilled in oil instead of butter.
Our recent family dining experience was fantastic. The wait time on weekends can be long, sometimes up to 20 minutes or more. However, our bartender was very attentive to our table and needs. The kitchen ensured all our food arrived together. The atmosphere was pleasant and family-friendly. One of our servers seemed hesitant to bring out extra corn muffins, but overall, everyone was satisfied with the quality and quantity of their meals.
I always choose this restaurant whenever I'm in the DMV area. Their food is fantastic and the service is consistently incredible. There may be a wait for a table, but they also offer a carryout buffet option. I have never been disappointed here. I especially enjoy their smothered chicken and rice, as well as their mouthwatering honey muffins. The salmon was also great. This place definitely delivers authentic southern cooking.
I went to this restaurant for dinner on Sunday and want to commend them for staying open and serving the public during the pandemic. Thank you for your dedication. I also had a great experience with the bartender Val, who provided stellar service and was engaging with other patrons. I would have given 5 stars but the bar is closed until August and they only had 1 waitress. The wait was 30 mins as a result. The food was really good as I had the creole Salmon with Mac and cheese and yams. I thought the Mac and Cheese could have used a lil more salt. The homemade lemonade was great and the cornbread muffins were to die for!
