Four of us had a late breakfast today, Saturday, on the patio. Parking lot was deceptively full.... thought we would have a wait. Seated right away. Entered to a few couches, a large bakery display case and The Vintage Rose boutique off to the right. We were seated at the only round patio table without an umbrella so as the sun kept peeking through the trees .... we asked to move to the table next to us. Our server gave us the go ahead. My nephew ordered the blueberry pancakes. Which the server immediately informed them: they can be prepared two ways: the blueberries cooked in them or on top w cream for a compote. I ordered the walleye dinner. With an extra dinner roll. There was no tarter, no lemon, sour cream dated 15, yesterday was the 17th. My baked potato was over cooked, and the rolls were hard! No biggie, but, they always, forget something. I called and the manager, who said she was new, took a nasty tone with me! My cashier said she put lemon and tarter in the bag, and so far, no one has complained about the rolls! OK, why would I lie? I guess that 's new customer service! Wow!
This is a great place to eat as long as you don't arrive around 10:45/11am. That's when they switch from breakfast to lunch, and you could wait 45 minutes to be seated, even tho 90% of the tables are empty. Instead of seating you, they make everyone stand around in the entry/lobby. Then around 11:20 or so, they start seating with one person doing all the seating, so it takes quite awhile. Very stupid system.
The best homemade food EVER! Matt was our server and he had great suggestions I'm still drooling thinking about the soup and turkey sandwich and don't get me started talking about all the homemade desserts! Our food was delicious! We absolutely loved the homemade pickles and fries! I would definitely recommend Carol’s to anyone looking a nice homey restaurant in Blaine.
I ordered the Mexican omelet, and while it was tasty, it was SO greasy. The meat hadn't been drained, so I ended up with a plate full of grease.
I've only been a couple of times, but each visit was great! Definitely a lot to choose from, the bakery stuff is outstanding!
