I had been a few years since I last visited this restaurant, known for its great eels. The last time I had been here I had a very good meal, so my expectations were high. I invited work colleagues for an informal lunch, in the hope of great food and good laughs. The space is great, full of bullfight memorabilia and photos of famous patrons on the walls. Large, but very nicely decorated. I was honestly disappointed with the food though. The fried eels we had for starter were tough and greasy. The stewed eels that we shared for main course were too soft and watery, although the flavours of the stew were very good. Finally, as we were not convinced with the previous dishes we decided to finaliz...
Oh my god I didn 't come here for sooooo long...but it 's still the same! The same quality, the same flavours, the same service...so good! Eels Stew for everyone!!! These is a house specialty and it was amazingly tasty!!!! Because it was a Sunday, it meant that Cozido á Portuguesa was an option too and some of my friends ordered. This is a kind of restaurant that I advise everyone to go at least once..there 's no other like this around Europe and this is a great opportunity for foreigners to immerse into the Portuguese traditions on the table...besides the foods, all the way to the restaurant is a plus, travelling from Lisbon we have to drive over the Vasco da Gama Bridge and simply soak up...
Typical house that built a reputation, which does not come with knowing how to be and receive. Bad host service, especially for a group. If you can avoid it, avoid it. Restaurant with good quality: food and service. Enguias is the typical. I suggest the Ensopado de Enguias or the Enguias Fritas. We've demand the Enguias Grelhadas but they're not so good as the other varieties. We advise to ask for the Arroz Doce which is a traditional Portuguese dessert. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Not as good as it once was! Food was poorly prepared and bland. Also, we were told by our server that we had to buy a whole bottle of wine that he selected, rather than simply having the house red wine in a pitcher. So things are changing, and we may not be back.
I have come to this place with my family for more than 20 years, but long has been since my last visit. It was nice to come back with my wife and her mom, after so many years and see how they’ve kept the place and the food is still amazing. Do visit!
Reservation needed...it gets full fast with all local around. Food is lovely (had the beef with egg and chips) with wine pairing or sangria. Good fish dishes liked the eel.

Amazing eels, worth a family friends lunch. Different type of eels dishes that deserve to be tasted. Good service.
