My boyfriend and I came across this place because we had just gotten massages up the street and it started pouring rain so we had to get somewhere to cover ourselves. Out of the options we saw, we came into Casa Elli because it looked yummy and cozy (and had free wifi haha). Man, are we happy we did!! This place was AMAZING and had the BEST coconut gelato I had ever tasted. This is coming from someone who has traveled many places and has tried many kinds of gelato from different cities/countries. Casa Elli has taken over as our new go-to in Nice for the most delicious, sumptuous ice cream. It's all made in-house; it has the most incredible silky texture, the flavours are very pure & clean tasting. The staff are great & will let you try whatever you like before making your choice. There aren't masses of flavours which we took as an encouraging sign of quality, but some unusual ones such as chestnut or amaretto. This small coffee shop was close to our hotel and so warmly welcoming that we stopped by 3 times in 3 days. Staff are proud of their Italian heritage and serve Italian pastries and gelato as good as in Italy. Go early for the pastries, they do sell out, especially on weekends. Coffee, in all the variations we ordered, was well prepared, not just the stuff emerging from pods as in so many of Nice's coffee shops.
Not only is this the best coffee I've had thus far in Nice (and believe me, I've been trying everywhere), but also the pistachio gelato I had the day before rivalled that of Arlequin, which until now was my go-to place in Nice for great gelato. The owner Antonio promises a true Italian-style cafe-gelateria, and delivers! The best gelato we tasted in Nice, and very good coffee. Eggplant parmesan and canneloni at lunch were to die for. Just north of the pedestrian streets. Very stylish design. If you are driving, it's in the same building as the Parking Grimaldi.
On our few hours of stay in nice ,we had the chance to taste a very good cappuccino and my kids love their ice cream even on a cold winter time.the place looks simple yet cozy.so neat and clean.all the staff are very warm and friendly. Would definitely go back to this place and taste more of their food.
Really nice place to have some good ice cream or sweet and real Italian coffee! The owners are funny and very welcoming. Price are not high and it seems like to be in Italy. Highly recommended
