The Lac L'achigan diner on the road of the lake by the same name is by far the best diner and restaurant in Saint-Hippolyte. Not that they have that much competition since as of 2015, there are only three other restaurants in operation, two of which change owners almost yearly.This dinner is family-run so when you order your food at the counter, you'll be talking with the person who owns it, buys its food supplies and also cooks it. If it's not him, then its his wife or daughter, all of whom are extremely friendly. Everything there is made fresh and you can really taste it.Just be aware, as most diners in the cottage country, they only accept cash.

This is a takeout place! (At least for winter) We usually get their poutine when we come to the cottage, and it's absolutely devine. But. Their Italian poutine is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The amount of love and care they put into their homemade spaghetti sauce is RIDICULOUSLY delicious! The best we've had in fact. If you're in the area, you need to try that one.
The hot dog was lacking flavor, the Dampfer sauce poutine tasted like water, and it just wasn't worth the detour. Save your money and go elsewhere. It's a shame because the restaurant has so much potential. Parking was okay and the service was average. This would be a decent spot for a casual dinner, with prices ranging from CA$20-30 per person. I just had an amazing burger from this place. It is small with some outdoor seating, and definitely has a simple atmosphere. No utensils or napkins, but we didn't mind because the food was fantastic!
