I am not surprised this accommodation has one-star reviews. I lived here from September 2022 to September 2023, and the amount of racism and racial profiling I experienced was unbelievable. Nick Frinton, in particular, is a manipulative narcissist. Some reviews say he’s nice, but my experience was very different. Worst student accommodation experience ever in my life!!! Can’t feel being respected as a Cambridge student who should at least have a decent living accommodation at all. The staff are so rude to us, and the infrastructure in this building is so bad, everything constantly break. No water, no heat in cold winter, constant noise, extremely rude staff who know only how to threaten and harass students, made my past one year experience here sucks. I have never written a review but this was needed. I am not the type of person to go out of my way and write one but this place made me cry continuously and feel so upset. This place feels and looks like a prison. I moved in paid nearly a months worth of money and left after a week and a half. This place made me feel depressed I cried every night. I strongly do not recommend this dorm. The frequent room inspections are super unacceptable and invade our privacy. The cooking hob turns off every 5 minutes, making it frustrating to cook. Additionally, the unnecessary guest checking is extremely annoying—you can't even take two friends upstairs for a chat. The traffic is also quite inconvenient, with at least a 15-minute walk to the city and very few bus connections. If you're always alone with no need for a private room with friends, then you might manage here. Otherwise, please don't come.
Worst accommodation ever. No hot water for weeks during winter, privacy invasion by frequent room inspections, constant noise issue and rude receptionist most of the them are kind and helpful, apart from a few. Building is poorly designed, that it’s cold in winter (and the heating always went off automatically in midnight) and hot in the summer (no AC). Please avoid this place at all cost if you don’t want your Cambridge student experience to be ruined.
Literally all doors need to be unlocked by card, which is painful when you live in the rooms far from the entrance. Some of the hallways have a weird smell. Some receptionist are rude. Trash bin is almost always full so I use the ones at other buildings. Luckily I’m not living here through the winter cuz I heard their heat is sometimes broken. The people are kind and gentle. They are always ready to help and show support. The structure is good as well. The gym fits the needs and the team is open for suggestions pretty often.
