Cellarman's serves up delicious cider, beer, and mead in an industrial looking building in Hazel Park, which used to be an old lumberyard turned brewery/meadery. Long wooden picnic tables, knotty pine wood paneling, taxidermy, banjos on the wall, and Game of Thrones like chairs in a corner with red hanging lantern lights. Cellarman's is actually from the former B Nektar makers. They offer about two to four different meads, ciders, and beers a piece on tap. You can choose as many or few to create your own flight to sample a variety. Prices differ depending on which ones you choose. My flight for five was about $15. A pint is about $6 each. The Moscow Miel Mead (miel-Spanish for honey) was a m...
Very interesting place. Located several blocks north of the growing trendy strip on John R. Limited street parking. It is in converted drive through lumber yard from the 70s. Inside is the old sales counter from the lumber yard converted into a bar. Great staff, huge stage/audience area, side nooks, large family style tables--the bartender said the tables were made with the remaining lumber in the bay area. The production area is in the old bay area. The bathrooms are okay, the other areas are 70's chic, there are local artist pics for sale on the wall (some are shittastic, but trying to be trendy). The drinks are mead, ciders, and beers. The beers all use ale yeast (I assume no temp control...
Finally got around to visiting this place after having a few of their offerings at various other bars. When I walked in I was kind of taken aback. Interior looks like an old VFW hall (or as I think they describe your Dads basement). While it didn't seem exactly inviting and warm with the decor, the guys behind the bar were freakin' awesome. We ordered a few different ciders and meads during our visit and the two bartenders were more than glad to answer any questions, provide history, and accept feedback from us. While I wish they had a bit more of a beer selection, their coffee cider is pretty awesome. Was told they get their beans so local that they still come in warm. That's pretty neat. I...
Cellarmen's is an unpretentious no-frills spot to drink some good mead or cider. I visited on Mead Day 2018, so their tap list was longer than usual. We were able to find street parking right away just a couple of doors down. The interior has old-school wood paneling and seating is at communal wood picnic tables. There's popcorn available, but that's it for food/snacks. The guys behind the bar were laid-back and friendly but were able to make suggestions as we put together a flight to try. Our favorites included the Chocolate Raspberry Braggot, Strawberry White Pepper Mead, and Cucumber Lime Gose Mead. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I absolutely adore this hidden gem. It's a bit of a dive bar that often features live music, so be sure to check their social media pages beforehand if you want to avoid a cover charge. There's plenty of seating, a variety of intriguing beer and cider options, and a great, dimly-lit ambiance. The standout feature, of course, is the enormous moving eyeball that travels from table to table.
Mmm pineapple cider. You should definitely give this a try! There was plenty of room to get seats for a group. Decor was fun. Had to pay a $5 cover, but they had a band playing so we had fun listening. They don't have food but do have popcorn but it was a little burnt and not great. However, I'd definitely return for the pineapple cider and to check out another local band!
I love this place. Anytime I want a drink, I come here. The meads and ciders are amazing, an old SF arcade and some good music. Plus they're always changing the drink menu around so there's always something new to try.
It's unfortunate that this place has closed due to the landlord consistently increasing the rent. It was a really fun spot with a great atmosphere and delicious drinks. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
No frills, nice people, awesome ciders! Beer was good too! Popcorn and a performance space on weekend. Will be back for a low key drink
