After checking into our hotel in Waltham, Massachusetts, the front desk handed us a comprehensive list of all the local restaurants. We decided to go with Charcoal Guido's on Moody Street. Considering it was a Friday night, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. The service was prompt, professional, and friendly, starting with the staff who provided us with water, followed by Juan, who took excellent care of us throughout our meal. Met some friends for dinner while visiting area and came here on their past positive experience. We ordered a salad good), and gnocchi and seafood la mer over linguine. Our friends ordered clams over linguine and another pasta dish. Our waiter rushed us the entire time, even though restaurant was not packed. We ordered sangria which we expected In a pitcher but was expensive and served in individual glasses. Pasta was heavy, not homemade, or, if it was, not up to usual standards. The seafood was fine, a nice and hearty mixture. Prices were extremely high, $220 /4 people, for sangrias, one salad and 4 pasta dishes. And, attentive, but overbearing service. We will not be back.
The quality of the pizza and the atmosphere at Charcoal Guido's, located at the southern end of Moody Street in downtown Waltham, made for a pleasant Saturday lunch. However, I deducted a point due to the cleanliness of the glasses and tableware, and our order of Wormtown IPA drafts came with very large foam heads (we requested and received refills).
Love this place! So happy its open again. Best pomegranate martini ever. Staff is professional, courteous and prompt. Their was a mix up with who'd be attending my table and the manager not only came over and apologized, she comped our drinks and apps, and she ensured we were taken care of the rest of the night. We had the Mahi Mahi with Risotto, it was amazing. The only thing is that the place needs noise cancelling machines to tone down the people. It was so loud we could hardly hear each other. So not a good first date place.
This a great restaurant. I'm really glad that they are still just as good after reopening, having been closed throughout the pandemic. The pizza here is incredible.
This place offers superb service and yummy meals. One of the best place around here. The drinks and food served fast and the rates are inexpensive. Recommended.
