In the desperate search to find a halfway decent pizza in the area, Charlie D's provided a pie that warranted another visit. Coming from the east coast, where it seems that there are handfuls of locally owned pizza shops in a 3 miles radius, this place resembled the closest to home. The dough/crust on this pie was a little thick, but had a nice tear and had flavor to it. We ordered an XL Veggie pizza. The toppings were average, but the crust seemed to make up for it. I've had pretty good experiences with the pizzas here, so if I order again in the future, it will likely be just for that. However, every side I've tried has been mediocre to poor. I definitely wouldn't recommend the meatball side; it was absolutely disappointing. When I see "side of meatballs" on the menu, I expect to receive 3-5 actual meatballs in marinara sauce. Instead, I got dried-out slices of beef with no sauce at all. I really don’t understand how a restaurant could let something like that leave the kitchen. I was excited to see calzone on the menu but it was the dryest and stingiest calzone I've had in a long time. The seasoning on the bread was tasty, its a large calzone and you could tell it was made fresh. However, the bread is made too thick and very little ingredients are placed on the inside. A calzone is suppose to be STUFFED...the sauce and cheese is what makes the calzone but it was missing. I noticed while waiting for my food that all the pizzas that came out had scarce toppings so I'm not sure what people love about this expensive place. It's not NY style, it's not worth the prices and not worth me coming back.
Awesome place, but ordering over the phone is where they tend to mess up. Midway placing order I?m being told to hold, and then having to repeat it. Pay for order and an hour later they called saying there was two people with same name, but different orders and canceled mine having to charge card again and wait an additional 30-45 minutes for delivery. Moral of this review, just eat at restaurant and avoid talking with them over the phone. Order 7:45p, received 9:26pm. Pizza was handled poorly all slices on one side of the box. this place is very clean, service was great although the young man at the cashier could smile more, he and the rest of the team made sure everything went well. wings were excellent, well breaded and tasty. Pizza was great too, dough was bubbly and even the crust was good. i love the taste of feta cheese on the pizza we chose. only one thing is the pizza was greasy either due to the meat or the cheese or the tomatoes, resulting in a moist/wet dough in the middle. Still loved it.
I do recommend the place but I do NOT recommend the pasta. Everything else was good like the pizza and the wings. The sauce tasted like metal mixed with onions and garlic. Tasted straight out of a can and it was very watery. I only ate a few bites until I started to feel sick. Sure enough that same night I got very sick. So again, everything else is good except for the pasta. My boyfriend did not get sick off of the pizza or the wings.
This is a fantastic restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is both delicious and beautifully presented. I requested a special way to serve my daughter's pasta, and they prepared it exactly how she liked it, all with a wonderful attitude. I will definitely return!
