We arrived quite late having flown into Lyon, collected the hire car and driven up to Pizay however we were in time for dinner. There seemed to be several dining rooms in the old part of the Chateau one of which appeared to be hosting some sort of function. The room we were in was part of the old bit of the Chateau with a very high wooden beamed ceiling much of which was painted with what appeared to be local scenes. We were shown to a table by the Head Waiter and provided with menus. We chose a bottle of the Chateau’s own Beaujolais which was nothing spectacular and then selected some food. The food was excellent, very ‘Nouvelle Cuisine’ delicious and beautifully presented if a little small...

This is a beautiful hotel set amongst the vineyards of Beaujolais. We had a large, quiet room on the ground floor in the older part of the hotel which enabled us to have a delightful breakfast on our patio each morning. We ate in the restaurant twice and enjoyed it each time - the food was good and beautifully presented without being too "nouveau". From the hotel it is easy to tour the many Cru villages of Beaujolais. Note: as the hotel is set amongst a working vineyard a certain amount of agricultural activity should be expected - there is an informative self-guided tour of the vineyards

The restaurant in Château de Pizay is definitely one of the best five restaurants we have ever been to. Every dish is well thought through, sophisticated and outstanding in taste! In addition, the chef offers a degustation dish ahead of every course, which as well is a great experience every time. Furthermore, the service is very friendly, fast but still always perfectly timed. Lastly, from a value/quality standpoint, prices are modest. Simply, a place we would always recommend to anyone! The dining area can be quite big, catering to large groups like company dinners, marriages and the like. They seated us and the rest of the few hotel guests into a very cozy and intimate corner. The cuisses de grenouilles were succulant, the omble chevalier perfect, however the lobster under a crust of nuts was a bit heavy, too much. Service is perfect and friendly. We had a night cap in the bar afterwards and were the only ones.

beautiful place, in the middle of the vineyards, friendly welcome. but the annexes or the rooms are a little disappointing, mini bar not cold, a little bad way in the finishes for a 4-star it is a little limit. the restaurant very good gastro, but long at service, 45 min before having something on the table, red wine from the excellent domain, very nice waiters! The pool is great.

One of the best French dinners we've every had. It is not cheap here but the chef certainly knows what he or she is doing. Though we chose 3 courses, they brought us out 5 additional treats from the kitchen. Our waitress was friendly enough but lacked professional training. Otherwise the cuisine was absolutely spectacular and memorable.

So I finally got into restaurant and it was pricey but definitely worth it! Service was great! Food was splendid! And wine was superb! Nice ending to French wine country trip!
