We wanted to stay in the hotel but couldn't. When we arrived at the hotel, we thought we were several centuries back. When we entered, we were driven to a patio overlooking the back garden. the drinks orders were taken and we waited while we were looking at the menus. We have placed our orders and as soon as we have finished, we have been taken to our table. our meal began with a lover of maritime nature. foie gras, eggs presented in two ways and cod were our aperitif. they were delicious and beautifully presented. 4/31-5/3/17 seated in a closed glass terrace with garden view in the back of the historic building. I could hear the birds outside. time is rather fresh and it rains in part during this period of the year. by sipping wine and tasting an hors-d'oeuvre specially prepared by the chef. This place was great to stay. ( attached photo) I give it a 9. bed and breakfast but not included. We enjoyed the broadcast. You boiled your own eggs as you like. a lot to eat. variety of cold meat. We stay here for four days and have dinner the first night. I can't blame anything for the service. We drank champagne and the chief sent some amuse. . . they put the bar high enough for the food that followed? beautiful and creative, explosions of surprising flavors. The dinner was excellent, my dh had the pigeon and found it superb. We both had foie gras, mine and cold, two different presentations. The bread was homemade and two types of butter. . local and chef butter with ginger, lemon and pepper - it was very original and delicious. strawberry for dessert miam of course there were all kinds of surprises..Amuse mouth abound! we are not sure because we do not know all the hotels in the world but the sully castle is from our point of view definitely a very special. We were with a former political man of the region and a descendant of one of the famous families of france and arrived with a beautiful old bentley style for this castle hotel. but none of the 3 staff at the reception said hello or tried to welcome us. the manager or owner of the hotel gave the impression of a frustrated man forced to accept people on his land. It was our second visit here (the first time it was in 2012). the two times we stayed at the hotel and ate at the restaurant. We were suffocated during our stay in 2012, and so we were delighted to take my parents for their 55th birthday. We were a little disappointed this time. although the building and the gardens were always as beautiful, this time they felt a little overlooked. Wi-Fi was extremely low, the pool needed to be cleaned and food and service were also down compared to 2012.
This castle is beautiful! The room is charming and the staff is very warm and friendly. it is close to bayeaux and omaha beach and the American cemetery, but quiet and charming! We had the best meal we had during our trip! the chief paid attention to every detail. The waiter was fabulous! It was expensive, but it was worth it every bite!
Our experience here was horrible. food was not as planned and service was lamentable. I'd avoid this place. They roll on the tails of a previous evaluation. We spent three nights, so we had ample opportunity to evaluate this hotel and its food. I wish I could change our plans.
