Went to Chef's yesterday for a 75th birthday meal (august 24, 2015. There was absolutely no one else in this restaurant at 2:00 p.m. The other establishments were busy but the birthday "boy" wanted to go to this restaurant for fish and chips so we went here. The waitress greeted us right away and we could not believe our eyes - she was bearing way more than is acceptable for a family restaurant. Her clothing was just not acceptable (or should I say her lack of clothing). A slit right up to her thigh, very low blouse exposing way to much. Have been going out to Sylvan Lake for years to eat, visit, kayak. Their fare used to be so processed we finally quit going. After a day of Kayaking on the lake we were tired and hungry and a little disheveled looking but clean, no different than swimmers or sun bathers. We thought let's go to Chef's and sit outside! There was some discussion as to our entry in SPF paddle shirts (also clean) and shorts etc. and hats. In summertime Sylvan? What? Since this restaurant is owned by the same person who owns Brava Gastro Bistro, which serves fantastic food, we decided to give them a try for lunch. Big mistake, first of all, our server said " I am filling in for someone, so I don't know the wine list"I ordered a plain burger, with no cheese, I got a cheese burger. I also ordered onion rings, got fries. My husband ordered aDonair wrap with potato chips. The server asked him if he understood that the chips were actually potato chips and he said yes. We went to this restaurant/bar both nights of our stagette and had a great time. Drinks are a little pricey but the staff are friendly and attentive. The dance floor got extremely wet due to drink spillage on the second night we were there. Not sure what they could do about that but it was kind of gross! We just opted to dance in another area and still had a good time. Also enjoyed dinner on the upstairs patio on our first night. Food is slightly jazzed-up pub food but it's tasty and came out quick. I was a little disappointed that the menu said the burgers were handmade but mine looked suspiciously like it came out of a freezer package.
This summer, my friend and I enjoyed a beautiful lunch on the rooftop patio with great service and amazing warm sandwiches. That night prior to eating dinner an extreme nausea came over my friend and I, and within 2 hours we were both throwing up and did so for another 8 hours. Our family never did get sick so we knew it was from the food we ate at this restaurant. I have never felt so ill. We never did call the restaurant as it took 4 days to get our strength to even eat again, and by then we just didn't bother, but we still wonder if other people got sick too.
Went for lunch on the upstairs patio. Ordered white wine with not too much attention to detail...not our finest hour... One glass served cold... Other served with glass of ice and apologies ... Cost 21.50.... Good news is that salad was really good and wings were good. Nice location, good food,watch the price of drinks.
My daughter and I chose Chef's as our place to have a nice dinner while in Sylvan Lake. Although there are newer places that have popped up on lakeshore drive, I have always loved Chef's. We were not disappointed! The food was fantastic! The service was super fast and friendly! And the price was amazing!
Walked in for a meal. It was about 9:30 Before i even got in the door an african american fellow poked me in the chest and said " wheres your ID" Lol Dont touch me I came in for a meal and was pretty much assaulted.Never going back Wouldnt recommend goin back
We went here around 10 pm. Sat upstairs just for a look at the moon n lake. Beautiful. Had a meal for the 2 of us n it was real good. It was a great place to end our evening before a walk down the beach sidewalk.
