Well I found an exception to that. And in the best possible way. My partner and I decided to attend one of their cooking classes. After contemplating between Thai and American Street Food, we ended up settling on the Seafood class. And I'm so very...glad we did. I loved the instruction from the chef/teacher, and I personally learned a few things, not only with prepping, but with taste combinations, and cooking techniques. For example, I didn't even know let alone contemplated cooking scallops merely in lemon juice, but I did it this night, and I'll do it again. New on the scene and the friendly team are trying very hard! There 's been a range of Scoopons and Groupons available for here for cooking classes and take home meals. There 's also Chefs for hire (hence the name). Classes took place out the back and were good fun. The cafe is well designed for the small space and although the menu is pricey (restaurant prices), there 's also cabinet fare that are regular CBD cafe prices (quiche, range of rolls, muffins, etc). I liked the Groupon for 7 x meals and think they could do well providing 'busy people food ' for the surrounding apartment blocks (but it would be better fresh than frozen). Bradley Backhouse, the executive chef and owner of ChefHire and ChefHire Atelier, leads a variety of cooking classes and provides chefs and hospitality staff for events. ChefHire also offers training opportunities for experienced staff as well as apprentices and trainees looking to enter the food and hospitality industry. Overall, it was a fantastic night filled with delicious food and fun. I thank Brad and Han for their guidance in the kitchen and for the chance to participate in this cooking class. The standout dishes for me were the sous vide salmon and sous vide egg with a scrumptious asparagus foam.

Do you remember the days when a simple meal consisted of grilled steak and three veggies on the side? While I still love a good steak dinner, restaurants these days are incorporating modern cooking techniques like sous vide, foam, and pearls into their menus. In a world filled with cooking shows, it's enlightening to witness the techniques employed by professional chefs firsthand. I was eager to learn the innovative methods showcased on these programs and had the opportunity to do so at Chefhire Atelier.

The food and coffee here is amazing. It doesn't look out from the front but I cannot recommend highly enough. Had the salmon roll and the bread is some of the best I've ever had. The person next to us had a more substantial meal and it also looked great, we will be back to try more. Staff are very professional and prices reasonable. Toby's estate coffee made well too.

<br/ $49: 3 Course meal for 2. It was an excellent value from Scoopon. The place didn't look posh from the outside but we felt warm and comfortable inside. Without the deal.. I don't think I could find an extraordinary place like this. For a good food we definitely will be back and pay a full price.<br/

The Modern Techniques class was so informative and loads of fun. Brad was happy to answer any questions and forwarded recipes and other info by email afterwards. Such good value getting to eat the results as a course lunch.
