However, the main issue was the service. At one point, we waited an astonishing 42 minutes (I timed it) without seeing our server. The explanation given was that they have new ownership and are still figuring out their procedures. We ended up spending two and a half hours there, only getting one course. As we were leaving, I warned a couple arriving to think twice about staying, sharing my experience with the new management. The man chuckled, saying that the service is consistently slow, and they often use that excuse. They eventually decided to leave, telling us that they usually get takeout and let them know a half hour in advance before they go.
First time at Cheng Du, happened to be in the area. There was a large party going on but they accommodated my party of 2. Menu is extensive and seems to be adding dishes as some were written in. It seems to me the restaurant is a little more geared toward authentic Chinese, similar to some of the Chinatown restaurants, which I loved. Food was great, server was very nice. She practically was serving the party and us by herself. Would definitely recommend
This is a classic Cantonese-style Chinese restaurant. We tried the orange beef, Chinese eggplant, chicken with broccoli, prawns with green beans, and sesame chicken—all of which were really good. The ingredients were fresh, and the dishes weren't overly salty or greasy. My only criticism is that the sauce was a bit on the heavy side. We were visiting from NYC, and I can confidently say this place stacks up well against the restaurants in Chinatown.
Ordered a bunch of stuff for pickup to try: Lo mein, general Tso chicken, wonton soup and the pork fried rice. Everything was SO delicious and fresh. The portions were also very sizable. The staff was so friendly and the food was ready so quickly. The restaurant itself is quite massive and clean. This is a great Chinese restaurant. I'll definitely be back! Mancy, our server, was so super friendly. She was the real star of our dinner so hope she stays ! The food is excellent as always. We usually get the spicy green sour pepper fish and the sweet and sour pork was crispy and tasty. It's fine, but I don't have anything particularly positive to say. For me, it wasn't worth the price. I usually prefer the typical Chinese takeout for under $20. This meal was expensive and just average. Maybe my expectations were too high. I opted for takeout, so I can't comment on the service.
Best Chinese in the area. Also, had a delivery nightmare situation and the worker at Cheng Du tried to remedy the situation by making a fresh order at no charge and getting on the phone and yelling at Grubhub.
