This place is a gem and, as far as I could work out, the only shop in Saignon. I work for one of the leading artisan bakeries in England and Chez Christine's bread, tarts and pastries are outstanding. I would even go as far to say that her croissants are the best I've ever had; no mean compliment I can assure you. She is open from 7:30am until 6:30pm and also operates as a cafe throughout the day. A range of fresh baked loaves are available daily with a very interesting Pain de Campagne made from Maize flour, hence as far as I could tell, gluten free. It's bright yellow colouring is certainly unusual! Among the pastries is an utterly delicious speciality of Provence called a Galette, which i...

Our first stop the next morning after checking into our 10 day rental in the village of Saignon was this place for a baguette, bread, croissants and coffee. The bill came to the astronomical amount of over €30.00! When we got back with our "goodies" we discovered that one of the coffees was made with the same grinds from the first one so was completely pale and without flavour. We were not impressed with the bread either which was very sour and the croissants tasted stale. I believe they deliberately overcharged us and gave us substandard fare thinking we were just passing through and it wouldn't matter. We ended up going back repeatedly to a boulangerie in Apt de Provence which provided ver...

Every time we come to the Luberon we rent bikes and explore the area. We use the hill climb to Saignon as a litmus test of our fitness as do many other cyclists it appears!Whenever we explore we like to refuel with coffee and cake / croissants. The best cake shop in the Luberon has to be La Vie en Rose in Coustellet but whilst their decor and cakes are amazing, they don't make a croissant as nearly as good as Chez Christine which simply has the best croissants in the area. Tap the top of the croissant and you get that click sound. Then pull off the top and it peels off in layers. Splendid!Their Cafe allongé (espresso with extra water) is top notch as well although we find we need to order 2...

This was my local "go to" spot for picking up freshly baked croissants and baguettes when staying in Provence recently, along with a latte after a morning run. Our group also enjoyed some of the local tarts - range of savoury and sweet - freshly baked at this tiny storefront in this quaint hilltop village just outside Apt. An ideal spot to stop to pick-up breakfast items or for lunch or dinner - either as a picnic or an easy meal wherever you are staying. The cafe also has a small number of tables for those wishing to dine in or an outdoor dining terrace when weather permits.Well worth considering.

People come from miles around to have breakfast/brunch or light lunch at Christine's. Situated in the heat of the tiny village of Saignon, Christine's is, truly, the hub of the village. We usually rent a house, with friends, in close proximity to Saignon and someone goes each morning to Christine's to collect the breakfast baguettes and croissants. This is one of the highlights of the holiday.

I love Chez Christine. We have been coming to Saignon for quite a number of years and it is always a pleasure to come to this little bakery/cafe. Open all day, a great place for coffee and a pastry in the morning, an omelette or a salad for lunch or and afternoon snack. Sit outside on a warm day or in the cosy cafes few tables in cooler weather. A true neighborhood place to enjoy and relax.

Stopped for lunch on a bicycle trip through Saignon. In visiting this gem of a village Chez Christine is the "icing on the cake" so to speak. Sat under a tree in the courtyard and had an excellent light salad lunch. Only after did I go inside and saw the wonderful pastries and just had to add dessert. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

There isn't a lot to choose from in the little town of Saignon, but Chez Christine is convenient (right in the middle) and has enough to have a quick meal and sit down for a drink.Serving a range of baked goods (pizzas, croissants, quiches), with sides of salads. The meals are cheap and tasty.

On a corner, just around the corner from the car park and church. A great range of pastries and cakes to go with your tea, attentive staff, none of your South of France service with a scowl here.Great place to relax after a stroll around this fabulous village.
